I wanted a utility vehicle to use on the farm. I thought I wanted an EZGO St Sport II but decided it just wasn't beefy enough for my needs. We have a good Polaris dealership in town. I went there thinking about a Ranger 500 or EV. I drove both but wasn't sure. Then I drove a Ranger 800. Wow, what a powerhouse. I knew then it was the one. It came home with me.

After I got home I had that "what did I just do" feeling but when I took my 83 year old mother on a tour of the family farm I got over it. I think she really enjoyed it. Money is not everything. I think we will get some good use and enjoyment from this machine.

Congrats, that's a great looking unit.

I think we all get that what have I done feeling when buying toys that cost this much but several years from now you'll look at it as a great investment.

Who do you UTV owners have your rigs insured through? I have only checked with my auto insurance carrier (TNFB) and they were $260 per year for full coverage with a $250 deductible. Is that price comparable to others?

I have my BX and RTV insured through Kubota Insurance. Don't remember the RTV cost, but the BX is $145 per year full coverage on or off my property. $13K in coverage (it's a 2004) with a $250 deductable.

The RTV is around $160 per year I think, maybe a little more...Don't remember, but it was much cheaper than State Farm. It was included in the financing.

Haven't found a better deal anywhere else yet.

My 610 Mule is thru allstate $162 a year... Your machine is a 800 and twice what my Mule is worth so $260 a year might not be that bad... Oh- by the way very nice ride..

I have mine through Kubota as well, it was cheap and seems to cover alot. Can't say for sure as I've never had a claim, that would be the real test.

congrats on your new machine, you and your family and freinds will have great times on it for sure around your property.I know our parents both around 90yr's old enjoy the ride around the farm just to see what has changed. With out it there time out doors would be greatly reduced for sure. For insurance all I can say is get a few quotes from different agents. Sometimes there is a huge differencce, just make sure your comparing to same amount and kinds of coverage. Enjoy your new ride

I just took a 800 Ranger for a test drive today...with a full set of Polaris tracks on it. Wow, nothing would stop it. It is still very much winter here and we've had a good amount of snow this year. I was able to drive off trail right through the snow and up a hill so steep that it was scary going DOWN it. Definitely a good unit. I crew cab version is now officially on my wish list.

Thanks for all the replies. So far it looks like I will be going with my auto insurance carrier TN Farm Bureau. I got a little cheaper quote from Progressive but the coverage was not the same plus I have always had good service with FB. I even checked on the Polaris insurance but they were way out of the ballpark.

So far I am really liking the Ranger. I wish it was a little quieter for hunting but I think it will be OK. I am anxious to put a good load on or behind it and try it out. Sure wish my Dad was still with us, I just know he would have enjoyed this thing.

I feel the same way...I wouldn't be able to drag my dad away from the "toys" I have now...He loved this stuff.

The ranger is a great machine..Quite a few guys have them at the sportsmans club and they are real workers...Not loud at all and pretty fast.

My uncle has one that he uses around his farm and he runs it like he stole it. He loves that thing.

If it weren't for the want of an HVAC controlled cab, I'd have bought a Ranger this time.
