New rechargeable work light

I have a porter cable one I was given as a Christmas present a few years ago that has done really well for me as a big work light. I also have a small o-light worklight that is compact but puts out a ton of light with a magnetic base. Both charge with USB-C which I’ve found I actually like quite a bit.

That was just the top result for 'Makita compatible light', but im sure there are many more, of different styles; all at pretty cheap prices, if your already in a battery system.

"smart electrician" brand from Menards had for a few years now with good results for price I paid. rechargeable, magnet, hook. Flashlight/work light combo only complaint is on off button probably a deal breaker for you. Currently looking at off brand 20volt DeWalt clones there seems to be a ton out there on scamazon at 1/3 the price of genuine DeWalts. I have quite a few DeWalt 20 volt batteries. I did see other off brands for use with Makita and Milwaukee batteries.

No. Once on, once off. If you push the button more than once initially, you can get different settings. But once for full, use it, then once again is off.
Look similar to the ones I bought at Princess Auto a couple months back, $8 on clearance, they work the same way. They have three settings, high, low and single led on the end, I wish I had bought a couple more for that price.

Here's one I like. Nebo. It's simple, on-off, flip up hook, magnet one on bottom, one on back. Very bright & USB charging comes with cell phone cable. Easily fits pocket.

Harbor Freight has a couple. I have the Braun. Simple to use. Very useful and effective. Push button once for on (if repeated pushes within first couple seconds it cycles through the power levels) then once for off. USB-C charging port/cable.

They also have this more powerful one. Both are on sale for black Friday.

I would go with whatever brand of cordless tool batteries you have now. I have a little 12v Bosch light because I have some of those tools already. My bigger stuff is Makita and the lights that came with those kits were pre-LED so they suck the battery down pretty quick, relatively. They have LEDs now but I'll live with what I have

For a general work light, I would also suggest buying some light that works with whatever rechargeable tool batteries you already own. Doesn't have to be the name brand as long as it accepts your batteries.

The makita just has one light that comes with a hook at its top. None seem to come magnet mount. May still get one but will need to get another that has a mag mount.
