As far as the vertical seams in the last course of the roll/flat roofing membrane where it goes under the shingle's is not a concern for me..(as long as they installed it properly) However....You mention ice and water shield membrane..AKA "peel and stick" are common name's for the same basic product...You can not torch a mod bit roofing membrane to peel and stick..So I would be curious as to how they adhered the roll roofing(mod bit)
to the substrate..
