Felt ok today, cut out some card holder brackets for the wife’s cat shelter and started the service on the porch snowblower. (Late is better than too late!)
Because I was low on hobbies, I bought out an old Corbin swaging set (.22/6mm/30 caliber). Dies, some core lead, jackets etc. the .22 set also has the dies allowing you to take spent 22lr cases and turn those into jackets for 22 boolits (223, 22-250 etc)-may have cross posted in gun thread but I made some progress
Today I grabbed a (I assume) 50lb homemade press to use for swaging
Now:
Cleaned up the press, smooth as glass. Now to start swaging
Anyone else do this?
Well it was time to mount the siren that came w the jeep (and switch)
most of my machines have a battery shut off switch, but surprisingly I hadn’t installed one on the Jeep yet. I found this on Amazon and wanted to pass it along, voltmeter with switch. Pretty handy, hooked to the negative terminal with a wire running to your hot lead. No parasitic draw when it’s off. Pretty handy little switch and much better than a simple blade switch. Price was around $30 as there was a 10% off coupon. I’m not sure if there is still a coupon. I will be steadily converting over to this style
Looks like you scored pretty well on the staging set and parts. I’d like to get into that more but time always seems to run out. Haven’t even touched the reloading press in probably a year.
I was refilling all of the lathes/mills with oil and I noticed that the sight glass on the Hendy shaper wasn’t showing oil (it is a pump-check glass that only shows circulation when running.) Sump was full but a bit old so first I exchanged that (dirty job.) No joy, so now to start cracking solid lines working way back to the pump, checking pickup for blockage, priming (not necessary but doing everything before removing the pump.) No joy. So begin the contortions to remove the pump(blind and by feel only) 7 hrs after troubleshooting and taking pump apart and cleaning, still no joy.
I admit, I wasn’t feeling well that day and my mind wasn’t clear (something I have to struggle with.)
I kept thinking about the large drive motor and the equally large rotation direction arrow on it. Then, it struck me. I upgraded my rotary converter a bit ago (30hp.) While everything else was running correctly, is it possible that I have the motor running in reverse?
Yes, yes it is. Swap 2 wires in the plug and I convert an air pump back into a oil circulating pump.
