Been awhile since I've been on here. Shop has been busy plus we've had a lot of snow. Now that winter is over I figured I'd get ready for next winter. I ordered in a new light material/snow bucket for the tractor. I've had to move a lot of snow this past winter and with the smaller bucket that came with the tractor it meant many hours in the seat so I decided to double up the size and ordered the bucket.

I got it last week but I wanted to add a waste guard. when these buckets are curled right back it can dump snow on the hood of the tractor or even brake the windshield out so my job to day was to fabricate the guard. Add a hook. Make up a cutting edge. Well it's not really a cutting edge but a stiffener for the bucket and I also added a couple of pieces of 1/2" flat bar to the under side of the bucket as well. I'll hard face the "cutting edge" later on. Here's how it went.

Outstanding work as always Paul ! That is going to be quite a load if there is much moisture in the snow. Now you need another storm so you can check it out !

Crikey! That bucket is big enough to house a bum or two in comfort! Great work as always.

With you skills, why did you buy a bucket. You could build a better one than Kubota builds. Nice mods.

Thank you sir. Your right about the wet snow. It's heavy when wet. It's not my intention to use the bucket for that. I'm just going to be using it for the light snow. I had to get out three times this winter to move snow. One of those times It took me 7 hours to move it. (see attached video) I figure I can cut my time in half with this new bucket plus save fuel and wear and tear on the machine. I'll let you know next winter how it worked out

Thanks. It's not ground breaking but something a little different to see. :)

Thanks buddy. I looked out at it this morning and thought I saw someone moving in it.

Thanks Bill. There's a number of reasons why I bought the bucket. I priced up the materiel and factored in my labor then considering all the paying work in the shop I would have lost big time if I built the bucket myself. The mods that I did just gave me the bucket I needed. Although I'm supposed to be doing mainly automotive work here I find myself doing much more machining and fabrication work these days so I do what it takes to scratch a living. Here's one example of a repair I did this week. Great to see your still around and thanks for posting.

I've had a few guys say I should paint it orange but I figured if I left it black it would match the tires and front fenders :). Hey. Johnny Cash said he wore black because it never got dirty. I guess my bucket won't get dirty either

Great work, a true craftsman!

I've had it in the back of my mind sooner or latter I'll have to build another bucket for my tractor. I've already had to reinforce the pin holes, because they oblonged. I haven't priced buckets from John Deere, but I'm sure I'll have sticker shock. I'm retired so my labor means nothing.;)
