New T1520 tractor has tick in motor

Brand new T1520 starts up and then ticks. Noise almost goes away after warm up, but not completely. We have had major issues trying to get it repaired.... Anyone else have this problem with your T1520? Any suggestions?

If it is brand new tell the dealer to fix it. What are the majior issues. If the dealer doesn't want to fix it contact N/h directly. Have you owned diesels before. Are you hearing the normal rattle that a cold diesel makes.

Hen we bought the tractor, we actually heard the tick then. The mechanic listened and heard it and the salesman as well. No one could quite say what it was but assured us that if it did not clear up, we could take it to any NH dealer to have it repaired or if need be, the motor replaced under warranty. He even looked for someone closer to us we could takeit to since this dealer was 2 !/2 hours away. Needless to say and to make a long story short, this other dealer was not able to fix it and we had to bring it up to the original dealer. They kept it there for over a month, finally claimed to have fixed it, saying it was the timing gears. It is back home and not fixed. The dealer says they stand behind their repair and will not do anything more.... They also said they would not be taking the motor apart and it appears that they did. We have been in contact with NH and as of right now, all they want to do is extend the warranty. I am just not happy with that because I bought a new tractor to have a good running tractor, not to be worried about it breaking down on a job.... I have been around tractors and logging equipment my entire life, so I do know the normal sounds of a diesel engine, and this is not normal. I apprciate your response and if you have any suggestions, I would be glad to hear them.

I would be calling NH once a week and keep track of every person I talked to.I would also explain that aparently you dealer also thinks there is a problem since they worked on it for a month. If you financed it through NH that also gives you more leverage. Be persistant but not rude or ignorant. Take a video of the tractor and make sure you can hear the noise and email it to the NH rep.

If you want a new engine tell the dealer...

If they will not do it then speak to the regional rep and NH...

If they do not want to install a new engine then insist on a full refund...

If they do not offer a full refund or a new tractor then contact a lawyer and seek legal advise...

If they want to keep you as a customer then they will fix the issue...

If they do not want to keep you as a customer then they will not fix the issue...

It is a simple as that...

That is just about where we are at. I did send some letters out to New Holland Corporation itself to see if we can get anywhere that way. If I don't have to go with a lawyer, I'd much rather not. However, it is looking more like we will have to take that route. I am truly disappointed in New Holland. The run-around we have gotten between the dealer and the customer service department at New Holland has been unbelievable. The customer service department actually hung up on me, without me losing my temper or anything. I am a very calm and patient person. I couldn't believe it. So needless to the say, higher-up's have been contacted....

I have a suspicion the tic might come from valve/camshaft/push rod area, may be due to initial inadequate lube or they put that engine together on Friday afternoon 1 hr before the shift was over. It were my brand new rig, I would not even be inclined to tear down/inspection and repair. I'd insist on a new tractor or at the very least new engine. Probably I would not have left the dealership with he tic noise no matter what they told me. Sorry for your inconvenience

My thought is the same, which is why I made it very clear that I would want a brand new engine if they had to do anything with the motor. I was even assured they would NOT rebuild the motor in any way if that was the case. I definitely do NOT want a rebuilt motor. Honestly, I wish I never did leave the lot in the first place. I am an honest guy and to me a handshake is a man's word. It sure is a shame when things like this happen. I sometimes wonder how people sleep at night....
