Tractor
New Holland TC 30 HST
Hi All, Finally got to spend some time today playing around with the new tractor and backhoe. Iam over all satified with the performance of the tractor and espicially the woods 7500 backhoe. If anybody out there is on the fence about getting a backhoe and you can justify the cost..DO IT. I Myself thought hard and long about the investment and Iam so glad I did now. I have 4 acres of untamed farmland behind my house and it is just to handy so far. Besides the 1000 jobs i have here for it, the neighbors are already asking about stumps, culvert pipes..and other odd jobs. One of my Justifications is for my side business, I own a Ground Penertrating Radar System. In a nutshell, it looks like a push lawn mower with a laptop screen and can see targets buried underground. I find all kind of things for people, leach lines, septic systems and had the pleasure of working with a archologist this spring on a french and indian war fort, That was neet. I only wish I had the backhoe for some of the intrestring targets I have found. Also have located some unmarked graves. Today It was cleaning around a old tree and moving old fenceposts, pics included. Once again, Thanks to the many people here on helping me decide properly.

Congrats on the new tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The Ground Penetrating Radar System looks real interesting, when I read post from TBN'ers that have hit unexpected items while digging. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Nice tractor - that loader looks very sismilar to the Rhino 2408 on my Kioti. Does anyone know if it is made by Rhino?

Chris,

Welcome to the forum.... I also have a TC-30 but w/o the backhoe. I used to be in the borehole geophysics business, so do know a bit about GPR. How did you come to own one yourself? I can see it being more handy to have as an individual than a well logger though.

Hi Rip,
I became intrested in GPR technology in 2000 while doing research here on our family farm. Seems we had a settlement here dating back to the early 1700's. Needed a way to see underground, researched it and went to Sensors & software in Toronto, got trained ,fell in love with the idea and bought one in 2001, next year i upgraded it to include the cart and smart system. Shortly after I recieved my cart the FCC put a ban on, grandfathering in current owners /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Anyway I have a zillion marked targets of intrest i will be digging soon.

Congrats on your new tractor Chris. Is that a Wood 1009 loader? If so, I think you'll love it.

Chris,

I can see how such a device would fit in with the inquisitive mind combined with the circumstances to utilize it. Sort of like a super metal detector for the avid beach comber.

You might quietly let your local and even state law enforcement agencies know of your GPR, as there are quite a few forensic applications for such a device. You could develop quite a side-line or hobby out of this if you are not careful.

Good Luck and enjoy!!

Hi Have blue,
The loader is a 7308, I added a cutting edge to it knowing my ground here as I have seen a few pics of dented and wavy mowboards after wacking those hard unseen objects. So far iam getting the hang of it watching my bucket leveler as i dig in. So far the tractor has been a rock solid, the more I use it the more i want more toys for it like a box blade or back blade, perhaps next spring /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I hate to say this but this is the first year in a long time Iam looking foreward to snow so I can try out the blower, I bet that will get old real quick /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I just don't know about that. Watching that snow disappear could get addictive... providing it's not TOO cold out.
