The easiest way for you to learn about your new tractor is to do a search for previous threads in this forum.

But here's a start for you.. TC24D

And welcome to TBN and congratulations on your purchase! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yup, you need to know that there are some rules that apply to tractors. Your tractor is a sweet little machine, but these rules apply to all tractors.

1) Never let your wife see you smile while using the tractor, she will assume you are having fun and not working.
2) Always come into the house with a worn out look on your face, collapse into a chair and say something like "that would have taken a lot longer without a tractor but it was still a lot of work"
3) Never even consider putting a horn button on your tractor and telling your wife that "2 beeps on the horn means bring out a cold beer" (don't ask how I know)
4) Never spill diesel fuel on your clothes and then throw them into the washing machine (don't ask how I know)
5) Remember to allow for extra clearance when you have the FEL on the tractor and you are working around your fence, garage door, and various other structures (don't ask how the gouges got into those things, it is still a myster to me)
6) Whenever you need a new implement, remember that your wife probably also feels she "needs" new jewelry
7) Don't even think of asking your wife if she will park outside in the winter so you can put the tractor in the garage, especially if a big snow storm is on the way.

You might request that your dealer install water and antifreeze in the rear tires plus get some wheel weights on the back to counterbalance the loader. Wonderful tractor when you get it balanced. Careful on hillside work when you have the loader bucket full.

Alan you make a very good point and obviously more to topic than my post. The TC24 has a very powerful loader for the size of the tractor and it needs proper ballast to utilize the full capabilities of the loader. If I recall correctly the owners manual suggest a ballast box AND fluid fill or wheel weights. I use a TC24 with only a ballast box because I don't want more weight than I have to have due to the fact that mine is used a lot for mowing and I have clay soil so I need to avoid rutting. But the loader on the TC24 needs counterbalance for safe operation (same can be said for every other tractor too).

Thanks Bob,

thats exactly the kind of advice I am looking for. the tractor will be used primarily for mowing, mostly flat land. What really got me interested was the BX23 and GC2310, and 0 were available in north east Ohio at that time. Plus Dad retired from Ford and I found out that the "Z plan" is still available.

The dealer said "What do you need a bh for?" I replied "Well...." then he said "You just want a toy don't you?" ... well can you blame me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I do see a few uses for it though.

Thanks for the link Gulf, I've done a dozen searches on the tc24d and keep ending up here. Not many pictures of them, so maybe I will stop at the dealer and snap a few.

I found some tractor weights on my property along with some attachments now all i need to do is figure out how to attach the weight. I don't know about the tire filling do to soft spots in damp conditions. but will consider it.

I hate waiting...

If you mean that the only threads that you find in your search is this thread, then you're not resetting the Date Range . The default is for any posts newer than 1 week . When you go in to the Search feature, just open the drop down window in the Date Range field and go to the bottom of the list to the All Posts selection and use that.

I think you'll have better luck! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As others have already stated, make sure to have some ballast. Know that with backhoe off of the machine, the 12LA loader will stand the TC24 on its nose, quick! I was like Bob, not wanting to load my tires for fear of sinking or compressing my soft yard. But I had to load them since I don't always keep something on the 3PH, and it really hasn't caused much problem on the lawn. Now, I have turf tires and the lawn if basically a very wet at times, mowed field. With R4s on a manicured lawn, things would be different. The loader is strong enough that when I am moving crushed stone, I can still bounce the rear end off the ground with a 300 pound back blade on the 3PH and the tires loaded with washer fluid.

My point is be careful. The BH will add plenty of weight, but if you remove it you will want something else for ballast.

What a cool machine, don't you think? I love mine and am amazed at what it can do.

Take it slow and pay attention to your surroundings, you'll be running with confidence in no time.

Brad
