Considering your delivery issues and now this grill guard, the moral to this story is, "If you want something done right...." /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Glad you got the right part. I was sure the mounting plates on the one you had were shorter than mine. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I figure I saved better than $2000 over the nearest dealer. When I made the deal I mentally added in $1000 to make up for things that might go wrong. The grille guard cost me a little aggravation and a trip back to the dealer to swap (50 miles one way). I figure I'm way ahead so far, but then it hasn't been two weeks yet. I'll be doing all the routine maintenance at home. 50 hours will be here very soon, so I bought the filters today. So far I had to adjust the HST creep (it wasn't far off, but I was tired of having to push the forward pedal to change the gear range lever), and will need to tighten the subframe bolts the next time I put the backhoe on. A couple were loose enough I suspect they may not have been properly tightened during installation. Small stuff you can either get upset about, or fix it and go on.

I appreciate the grille guard photo and advice, Jim - it helped me understand what the problem really was.

Can someone give me an idea about getting a guard for my TC35, the dealer wants over $400 for one.

Welcome to TBN!

A good welding shop could probably make you one for less. You should start a new thread, it'll get more views.

If you get a grill guard made, make sure it will fold forward to allow the hood to open. If it is made to clear the hood, then the loader cross-torque support will hit the guard. It's a very tight space in that location and you have to consider the dynamics of the hood and loader.

The factory grill guard isn't very effective really. If it stops brush, it's only by accident.

Depending on what you are guarding from, a heavy expanded metal screen that would cover the gaps in the standard guard is good to have.

Another consideration, if you have a loader, is hood protection from debris falling from the loader bucket backwards towards the hood. If you have one fabricated, think about extending it back over the hood for that additional protection. If you need incentive, look at the price of a replacement hood.
