Shoppin,

I had a 55 gallon drum cut in half that had a 3 point set up made on it. Don't know who made it but it was heavy filled with dirt and broken up concrete. My bucket was a 60" bucket. If you only filled it a quarter to half full you were OK. But you had to watch out. If I had too much in the bucket and turned the wheel sharp the other back corner of the tractor would come off the ground. Now the 60" bucket was too big, I knew that up front but was going to use it more for snow. But I just can't tell anyone how happy I am to have taken the 21 back and got me a 29. Just the size of the tractor I think made the difference.

Murph,

Sounds like the 60" bucket did make a difference. The 1220 has a 48" bucket on it. I did notice a big stability difference when I went from a center mounted 3 pt weight to a weight box that spanned across the back of the tractor 48". Some of the TBNer's use their box blades for ballast. If the box blade was the same width as the loader bucket, seems to reason that would be the best way to go. Being on sloping ground throws a whole 'nother equation to factor in. Have you felt a light rear end on the 29 yet?

Shoppin,

No I have not felt a light rear end as of yet. But I really never have filled the bucket yet except for some snow. I also on my TC21D had wheel weights and still had trouble. But I think this 29 will make a major difference. Can't wait until summer to put it to the test.

I had been looking at Kubotas, but some folks on the list here suggested that I be sure to check out the TC40. I did today. WOW what a machine!
Your purchase sounds great -- particularly the price. However, the pricing was way higher than you seem to have gotten. With hydro and the 16LA I was quoted about $24,000. I still want a bush hog and blade. Any suggestions on dealers?

thcri: Use a full 55 gal drum with a 3pt spreader/tow bar through it about a foot above the bottom and a simple "U" welded on for the upper link and a hole in the top for adding weight. The volume will give you about 600-700 pounds a bit more if you use rock-cement in the rocks as they are added. I just took a pic of mine I got for my TC40 and will post it in the implements section within a day or two. JEH

Grim,

My neighbor has a home made barrel something like you explained. I use to use it on my TC21D but have not found that I need it on my TC29D. But this summer may find I need to.
