Folks,
I have benefited greatly from reading everything on this site and in the next month I am going to take the plunge on a tricked out TC40D for my new little farm (20 acres) that I take possession of the first week of Sept. I will get the 16LA and the 758C, RM Finish Mower, Bush Hog etc. I can't stop reading everything here.

I have read I think every post on 4n1 buckets on this site. Seems the only tradeoff is that you lose some lift capacity due to the extra wt. The 16LA is rated at 2000 lbs lift capacity. So.. if I lose a couple of hundred pounds is that really a big deal? Won't I still be able to fill the bucket with topsoil , stone etc.

Second question for all you TC35D- TC45D folks out there is whether there is anything that you would have spec'ed into the tractor now that you have it? I was clearly going to go with the QT bucket, grill guard, rear remote etc. Just want to benefit from the wisdom of all.

Finally,
Do you think that the pricing / financing incentives are likely to change in the month of September? Do prices usually go down in the fall?

I looked at the 4610 and while I have always been green, can't get past the visibility increase associated with the sloped 16LA loader arms.

Thanks in advance.

Larry,

The bigger compacts can handle the 4 in 1 no problem. On my TC18 with 600# of lift capacity, 250# extra for a bucket would really hurt.

As far as extras, a set of quick attach forks would be handy. How many rear remotes are you getting? I think you can get 2 or 3 max. A block heater is nice if your garage isn't heated - only 30 bucks. I'd get some chain hooks welded on the bucket.

If I were doing it again, I'd have gotten the rear remote (only 1 offered on TC18) and the quick attach bucket with a set of forks.

The compact tractors appear to be selling strong. I wouldn't expect the prices to drop much if any, unless the dealer has one that has been sitting a while on his lot.

Just a note to Hazmats reply, get the rear work light, load the rears with beet juice, the loader is as good as any and the visability is great-I also like the xtra remotes, cheaper at time of purchase for sure, keep us posted......and pics, pics, pics !!

Hazmat, Llloyd, Paul, and Mark,
Thanks for your quick replies! All items have been noted. I am bouncing around my locak NH dealers and thinking about Corriher as a backstop. Corriher does seem to have some particularly good prices on implements (84" RD finish mower).

Looking at all the mods and customization here has prompted me to take a welding class starting next week.

I have about 700' driveway and huge paved circle / turnaround as well to plow. (we got 132" of white stuff last year). The NH dealer suggested that I find an old pickup truck blade and then weld on a QT backplate for the loader and I would be all set and would save me some $$.

With the coin that I am clearly going to drop here there is a very strong incentive to purchase the whole deal from out of state to save on $2500 in sales tax, but I do want to support the local dealers. When you all purchased your tractors did this enter your calculus?

If I feel any obligation to support local merchants, that feeling is completely outweighed by my feeling to support myself and my family. I can't comment on taxes, but $2500 saved for any reason is an awful lot of support.

I don't know about NY but in OH u can use it for farm and not have to pay sales tax.
Do u have a truck farm or hay or a little grain?
If u could seed some hay in part of it and mow w/ your tractor then get someone to bale it might get u a little $$$ and save sales tax.
I wold definitly get forks and instead of tooth bar seperate look around a find this 2 items from a SSL sales place and save money.
A tooth bar is going to run $350 and a new bucket w/ teeth is around $600 new or less used.
W/ the 4 in 1 I would get an extra loader bucket w or w/o teeth is your option but look at the SSL line of buckets, much stronger built and lots of different sizes and capacities.
Your dealers snow plow set-up is a good project, I going to put one on my 250 SSL.
I use the forks for ALL kinds of jobs this is a MUST HAVE, again look at SSL and u will find $500 for new ones.
