The description for these tires is, a turf friendly skid steer tire, but they look more like a R1/R4 hybrid.

I agree, those are nice looking tires, nice tread design to them.

I'll get a chance to try them out this weekend moving some snow piles to speed up the melting. I won't be on the lawn though, way to mushy and the hay field/ forest is under water from the spring thaw. The turf tires that came on it were Carlise, after 8 years they still weren't that worn, but I just got tired of sliding around. I thought about getting the tires like they have on the 4wd Deere 758, but I think they were only 2 ply. My lawn isn't the greatest ( rock hard clay, no sprinkler system) but I don't want to tear it up.

Vanb,

I had ag (R1) tires put on my 2001 BX2200 when I bought it. Have never had a lawn problem with them, but I have with other tractors that had turf tires that would spin out. So Here I am with 13 years experience mowing my lawn in wet, damp and dry conditions and no problems and a nice lawn. :) I also had the rear tires loaded with CaCl ballast. I think ag tires aerate the lawn. If a lawn is wet any tire will leave marks as well as the mower deck wheels. they disappear pretty quickly. You won't regret your decision to go with the R4's. I am in clay also.

I'm not mowing yet. A week ago they go they go 14" of new snow 20 miles north of me, luckily all I saw was heavy rain. I have used my tractor to move some wood and other light work. I think they will be fine once things dry out more. If the grass is wet they do a bit more damage than my turfs if you spin the tires, but not a big deal. I think a big difference on this tread pattern compared to R4's is that they are rounded at the edge wall of the tire, which should reduce tearing the grass when turning. I'm more excited to see the difference in traction once I start cutting the ATV trails on our 200 acres.

I bought a set of these for my Deutz Allis 1920 which is a heavy duty garden tractor and have been very pleased. They worked great in the snow on fairly level driveway without chains and can go on the grass without tearing it up. I can even use my steering brakes for tight (15") turns on dry grass without damage. IF you have a machine with 12" rims that can handle the 26" diameter, these seem to be the best all around tires out there. I have used lawn tractors but this is my first heavy duty machine and looked around at everything before settling on these. I got them filled with Rim guard for extra weight when using attachments like snowplow, snowblower, tiller, and moldboard plow. I have never gotten stuck and barely touch the differential lock which is night and day from using the turf savers that it came with. The only problem I had was ordering them, and two different online orders I placed were unable to be filled, but I contacted a local Carlisle dealer and he was able to sort out the order with his supplier. I think because they are a new item, not everyone has the stock codes correct.

Just found this thread but we put the WT300s on our ZD326 this spring and couldn't be happier with them, lots of traction yet very gentle on the grass. On wet ground or slopes the mower handles so much better you'd swear it's a different machine.
