New Tires for the Horse Trailor?

Those tyres have been run overloaded or with not enough air.

Check when cold loaded and they shouls not have large flex.

That worn edge is a indicator that they have been run low, or maybe they really are recaps trying to come loose?
Something is wrong, cause they shouldn't look like that.
Friend walked acros the street today, told me I needed new tires on my trailer that we were working on. Said I needed to buy some good ones, like the 10ply tires he was running on his. I told him mine were 14ply, so why would I want to downsize? He shut up about my tires (nothing wrong with them, he was just giving me heck, figured I had 4 or 6 ply tires on it)

I wouldn't want to chance a blowout and a wreck with a horse in the trailer.

Tires deteriorate even if they are not used. The RV people recommend not to push their tires more than 4-6 years without replacing them and motorhome tires can run $500 each.

We had a tire blow at low speed on the horse trailer. No issue with control, however, it caused $500 in damage to the trailer.

The tires are about 6 years old and actually the trailer does not have a lot of miles on it (they are the original tires with the trailer). It is my in-laws (they are the next door neighbors).

I will check with my mother in law, but runing the tires with low pressure might have happened-but not a lot.

The tire guy is coming today. $610 for 4 new tires, including him sending his guys out to change the tires in place. I can't complain (too much) over that price.

Depends on what value of tire he is bringing, as to how good or bad a deal that really is. I would probably have removed the tires and tossed them in the truck and took them to the tire place just to save the road service, which could be as high as several hundred dollars.

Please excuse my dry sense of humor.

I have no intention of driving the trailor anywhere until the tires are replaced.


As a matter of fact, the local/independent tire place will enve come out, pull the tires and replace them for me at a very reasonable rate.

See I would have gotten in trouble from some members by telling you to drive them more- you are NOT driving on the sidewalls and they have plenty of tread left on the part that actually meets the road.. All as a joke I remind you..
