Tractor
New Holland TN60A
I just purchased my first new tractor (a TN60) and had it delivered today. It has 14 hrs. on it already without me touching it.
Is it normal to have that many hours on a new tractor?
Should I mention this to the dealer?
Since it is my first new purchase I was wondering whether to make an issue of it or not.
Thanks for your input.

Some of the better dealers will run them in and also break them in on the dino.

Thanks, SKOALMAN.
I've been too busy to give it a good test run yet - working 12hr shifts thru the weekend /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I'll get on it Mon. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It's got a front loader and forks.
I'll get pics next week.
I'm from Anderson, IN

Mathais,
Not sure exactly where Anderson IN is but what little bit I have seen is "Beautiful" Country. Beautiful farmland! Man I know about the 12 hours. I don't punch the clock, but my job is "Task" oriented and have been putting in some very long hours! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I look forward to those little moments on the TN! Something relaxing and HEHEHE afraid to get it dirty! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Yes a former Grunt that is afraid of the mud! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, one of these days the mud will dry up and the SUN will be shining and it will be a friday afternoon and NO WORK until Monday morning! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Yes that day will be coming soon! I feel sorry for my "Ole Blue" as I plan to give her the owner Dyno Test with the Bush Hog on about 23 acres!

Have Fun, Be Safe and HAPPY TRACTORING!

when I got my TN65, it had almost 8hrs. my dealer had to get it from another dealer,it had 3.5hrs on it. NH mandates that the dealer dyno it for 4 hrs to seat the rings. he was'nt sure if it had been on the dyno, so he did it himself, for 4 hrs.

Those hours wouldn't bother me one bit. One thing that I am always chuckling about. Many on this board, say don't buy a tractor until you have demoed several models. How in the heck is a dealer going to allow anybody to test drive or take a tractor home for a demo without mounting up a few hours. You just can't have it both ways /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I never paid attention to how many hours on my new machines until people on this board starting making such a fuss. I'd actually prefer a machine with a few hours so that all the infant problems are already taken care of before I get it.

I understand what you are saying, Andy.
There is a little more to the story here that I left out.
Not only was there 14 hrs. on the NH, there was paint chipped and worn off the tow bar and PTO. So those hours were WORK hrs. not test drive hrs. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
That's what I find upsetting the most. It's suppose to be new.

When someone demo's a tractor, they use it and not just drive it. You learn nothing by just driving a tractor around the dealers lot. 14 hours is nothing on a new tractor, it means one person has demoed the tractor before you bought it. Heck, I put almost that many hours on a brand new TL100A baling hay when my dealer knew I was not going to buy that tractor. They sold that tractor in no time after I brought it back.

I understand your concern, but I would feel confident that you still do have a "brand new" tractor. If there is paint chipped off the tow bar as in pulling a trailer towbar, that would be good and you could thank the guy for helping to gently break it in. There should really be no paint on the PTO if your talking about the shaft. I was much the same as you, concerned that my brand new tractor would be driven by some customer, full RPM etc., before I could take delivery. After purchasing 2 new tractors, I'm over it.
