Well I finally did it.
After over a year of sitting on the fence, I will take delivery of a TN70D (4wd 16x16) and a 32LA this week. It has all of 0.2 hrs on it, and I put those on it in the dealers yard!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Two question for you guys that have something similiar;
1) Break in? Besides the 50 hr service what should I do or not do? 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down at idle speed? Idle speed being just enough to make the batery light go out?

2) I have run a TN65 on my property and was probably a bit conservative about the hills. For those of you with a tiltmeter how steep is too steep. What is safe for side to side tilt and for front to back tilt?

3) I did not go with liquid filled tires since I had a flat on the TN65 after only a few days of use. It seems the previous owner left me a few gifts hidden in the tall grass. I can use my bush hog 286 as a ballast. But what about that liquid fill that is supposed to plug leaks? Any one try this out?

Thanks!

I will post some pics once I get it home.

Let the tractor warm up and cool down like you said but don't be afraid to use it. I got mine in during spring tillage and had to throw it right into service and the tractor had no problems. Keep an eye out on bolts to make sure nothing loosens up on you, after 50 hours you souldn't have to worry about that. The only other thing is to make sure the fluids are at proper levels and keep the air filter clean. Congrats and good luck with your new machine.

You've got that right. The first time I put a load on my loader I had fluid spraying everywhere, loose lines. I also found the loader mount to engine and transmission casting bolts backed out three turns on the right side at 25 hours.

I had one bolt on the loader mount loosen up, the power steering lines at the base of the steering column started leaking and I advise never try to get to those lines as you have to dismantle half your tractor, ended up being a burr in the line which prevented a good seal. I had a bolt come out that holds the pin that holds the rear lift arms to the housing causing all of the hydraulic fluid to drain out in the field as well as drop the arm with the brush chopper attached. All of these were covered under warranty and my dealer was more than happy to take care of any problems and would have lent me a replacment tractor if I needed one. After those few problems I have no more to report and all of them were before the 50hr mark. One of the things the 50hr service is suppose to do is the mechanics are suppose to check every bolt on the tractor to make sure they are tight. My dealer came out and picked up the tractor when any problems happened that couldn't be fixed at my house with no mention of any charge. I do get along good with them and will buy my next tractor from them when the time comes.

Guys,

Thanks. Sounds like a torque wrench and some loc-tite may be in order.

1) Mine went right to work.......mostly 1800 RPM or lower work, but it went right to work....

2) You'll know when you're tilted too much .... your gut will tell you <g>. I thought the other day I was a goner for sure.....I built a "dam" on the creek and got the left rear wheel on the edge of an embankment while backing up....I felt the world stop for a second until I felt her balance out (and dropped the bucket quick!).

Front to back for me is not something I worry about too much...easy enough to drop the load when you feel her list forward...but side to side can come up quick.

3) i'm thinking of going ahead and buying the wheel weights.....to help stop some of #2 above <g>.

Dave,

I have about ten hours on mine and love it. Clearly this was the right choice for me. After driving a wide variety of units (rentals) mostly in the 40hp or less range, I am glad I opted for the 70 hp.

Most of those hours are brush cutting plus a little loader work. The 16x16 is great since you have a wide range of speeds at 540 pto rpm.

I am still nervous about the slope issue, since I have some really step areas. More experince with this unit and a tilt meter will probably help.

Regards,

Fred
