Tractor
MF 1739E
Hello everyone -

I bought a new 1739E about 3 weeks ago from a dealer in SC. Its my first new tractor, and my first 4 wd tractor as well. The tractor I have used for the last 18 years is a late 70s or early 80 s Belarus AS 250 that I finally gave up on. I am interested in any tips anyone can give me about maintenance etc. I do not have a front end loader on it and would like to adapt my old Belarus suitcase weights ( about 250 pounds) to fit on it as the tractor is very light compared to my old Belarus and the front end seems to be in particular. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi Muddy Boots. Congrats on your new purchase. I am on my 2nd 1739e. The first was a gear drive with a loader. I traded after 2 years for a new Hydro. The difference was night and day. I use this for EVERYTHING- plowing, discing, tilling, bushhogging, loader work, pulverizer work, box scraping, grader work, and anything else that comes to mind. I let the dealer do all the maintenance work on it while it is under warranty. I am extremely happy with the operation of it as I have not had a single problem with it to date. Enjoy it.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with.your tractor. I have to agree about letting the dealer take care of maintenance whole under warranty. But alot will be very similar to the Belarus, hit grease zirks every 10 hrs or so, change oil regularly, change fuel filter regularly, add a fuel supplement if it's going to get cold, etc. Good luck and once again welcome.

Small fuel filter underneath on the crossover tube should be replaced with carquest number 86006. Never shut it down during the Regen process.

Hello Muddy Boots,
Congrats on your purchase BUT I have had nothing but issues with my 1739e since day 1. I should have known that mine was a lemon when the very first day the hydraulics burst a I ring for the loader and blew oil all over the tractor, all over me, etc. Brought it back and they rebuilt it all saying they found some water and rust in it??!!
Week 2 I was hauling some manure in the bucket and while going up a small grade I found myself going backwards all of a sudden. Thinking that I might have hit the lever some how I hauled more and sure enough out it popped all by itself and nothing at all, touched the lever so back it goes for a few more days., I got a call saying that it was ready to come back home so off I go to pick it up only to learn that " the dealership could not replicate the issue" I asked if they tried carrying a loaded bucket up a hill and was told that they did not have any hills near by," WOW!
So I bring it back home. The next week the bucket crashes to the ground while in carrying a load and the lever is now locked. J call the service dept and they did come out to replace another I ring. The tractor has had at least 5 loader hydraulic issues for the I ring and a few times of it going out if gear all by itself.
2 weeks ago whole using a brush hog the tractor pipped out of gear both going up and down hills 31 TIMES!! I went back to finish the field work BUT this time I brought my cell phone to document this safety issue since I was almost injured the night before with the tractor going down a hill and a branch hitting the tractor before I could react and slam the brakes on. I was able to video another 5 or so episodes of the tractor just popping right out of gear with NOTHING even being close to the lever!
I brought the tractor to the dealership telling them that I did not want the DANGEROUS machine back at my place and to figure out a trade for it.
On top if the safety issues it has been in st least 4 times for regen issues. I was told that every 4 hours the engine needed to seven about 25 minutes and so on BUT my damned tractors seven would last up to 4 hours no matter what I did.HALF of tge 360 engine hours are from, the frigging seven issues. FINALLY the dealership said that they found a software issue and repaired it but i am still screwed out of 130 hours for regen problems. Now to see if anyone from MF or the dealership Will stand behind what they make and sell!!
Best of luck with, yours, I would not buy any of the e series again.
