New to forums--what type/wt oil Ford 3000?

Just got a Ford 3000 gas tractor last month. Learning as I go. Need to order a few manuals I think. What oil would be the best for winter, or should I use the same as for hot weather? What would be the best hydraulic fluid to use? The oil filter is new, so I don't think it needs to be changed yet? Thanks in advance, Kate

SAE 5w-20 below 14 degree F up to 40.
SAE 10w-30 or 20w for 40 degree to 90 degree

i'd be real carefull about running 20w oil on a machine that could be 47ys old. i'd put a mechanical oil gauge intot he sender port and see what my pressures were.

if in arctic weather.. I bet a 5w30 oil .. even syn.. might be great. 5w40 syn diesel oil even better...

remember.. the oil recs in the owners manual are from 65

I personally like Rotella T Synthetic 5w/40. You can get it cheap at Wal Mart in gallon jugs. I've standardized on it for all my cars and equipment - it is a great diesel oil, and an even better oil for gasoline engines (diesel oils need to work a lot harder than the typical gasoline oils, so they have a much more robust additive package).

i'm runnoing valvoline ultra blue 5w40 in my diesel pickups now.. i love it.
