Hi everyone,

We are soon to move in our new home which has about 3 acres of mowing. Not too much in the way but a few trees and a few slopes. I am leaning to the '54 husq model as it seems to have plenty of great reviews and the price is e best wehave seen. Any suggestions?

Welcome to TBN. Your going to get lots of suggestions for every brand out there and have you spending tons of money. I don't own Husqavarna but see nothing wrong with them. I just was at a dealer for a new chainsaw and looked over the dealer only models and was very impressed with them. If you have a dealer close by that would be the only upgrade I would suggest.

Milezone,
Welcome to TBN. You may want to look at the Husq section to get an idea what the Husq owners have to say.

Not too sure what you mean? Isnt a riding mower good to go for a 3 acre lawn? Just trying to determine which is best for my buch. I have some slopes, but nothing too bad, and only 4 or 5 trees in te entire lot that is being mowed. So was think 54" or 48" deck would be fine???

I actually have 13 acres, but the rest is wooded.

If you're going to be doing a lot of other work besides mowing, you may want to look into a SCUT or CUT like the Kubota's or JDs. More money, but they can do a lot more.

This is something you should consider because of versatility and durability. The average box store rider probably lasts 6 years or so (some less, some more). A good SCUT/CUT should last 20 - 30 years or longer as would a commercial rated ZTR in homeowner service. Of course, much of this depends on how the machine is maintained

Sorry for my newness, but what is scut or cut? ;-). I kinda have a budget of only $2500 or less for this machine so that was why i was thinking the husq '54 or '48 JD. Kinda now lean to Jd as everyone seems happy with those? Keep the advice coming you guys are great.

Sub compact utility/ Compact utility tractors. You will be hard pressed to find one of these at that price although you might find a Graymarket tractor ( one of a number of tractors that were imported used and not normally supported by the manufacturer's dealer network ) in your price range. Most of the manufacturers have very attractive prices and 0% financing on models that would meet your needs. Of course I have no way of knowing your situation, but thinking long term, it may be to your advantage to spend a little more now and save considerable money later. Getting a warranty to me is a huge plus especially if you're inexperienced in this arena. I'm speaking from experience having traveled that road 18 years ago. Good luck.:)
