Yes, sensor. It's actually tied into the cruise control module, that reads several things. The range lever has a potentiometer that sends a signal through the circuit and then reads which range is selected. There is a sequence to reset this circuit when it's out of whack. (I had the same thing happen to my DK-40). Until you do the reset make sure you are carefull starting the tractor, because sometimes you won't actually be in neutral though it may indicate you are. Engage foot brake for extra safety.
If you do a search for range selector says neutral, or similar you will hopefully find my thread with the sequence outlined to fix this issue.
I'll look for it now for 'ya.

Here she is: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...lickers-between.html?highlight=range+selector

Wicked! The a bunch! I will look at it and see what I can do.. I know it goes into gears with ease, no grinding but the shifter is a bit off of what the sicker is saying and as I was saying the display was wrong..

I'm not one to have touch the pedal when I do start it... think the hst got me spoiled but good idea for the break.

As long it's nothing major like a bad tranny... I'm OK with the small stuff.. :0)

Yes the cruise module read the voltage going through a potentiometer that is attached to the range shift lever.

I agree that the stop setting knobs are on the wrong side of the draft and position control lever on your right side. Some one has moved them. They should be at the bottom of the slot not the top. Their purpose is so that you can set the lower limit of each control lever. There never would be a reason that I can think of to limit the upper limit.

The range lever actually controls a simple unsynchronized 3 speed gear transmission that is behind your hydrostatic pump/motor combination unit. When you press on the pedals you control the angle of the swashplate in the pump. There is more to the story, as there always is, but think of it as controlling flow rate and direction of flow of the fluid going to the hydraulic motor. The output of this motor then drives the simple 3 speed transmission. Does this help to understand the speed and torque relationships?

Haha yes and no.. I get the logic. The rpm is relevant to the pedal.. so if would go up a hill on the road on high gear and it would be straining I could ease of the pedal and that would be like dropping a gear? Tried it and and it just slowed down but didn't notice a gear change or anything.

I went and played around with the cruise as per the link.. I got the lights on my dash to flash.. H was blinking then I put it in N and then both were blinking.. then went back to H and tried it again.. I went to every gear and some were still messed up so I gave up.. Came in for a bit and then went for diesel and when I got to the store I had it on N and stopped it.. was on neutral.. when I started the tractor I put it on medium just to get out of the way and noticed that I was on M.. so it might have worked.. dunno.. kinda confused now..

But the DK50 is a pretty sweet tractor.. engine runs great and the drive is nice.. cab is great!

Could the setting knobs have been put on the wrong side of the position control lever to prevent an implement from raising to high and bringing some part of it in contact with the rear window maybe the crank on a snow blower chute? if the window were open especially.

Well, that is a thought... someone did it for some reason.

If you guys are talking about the stoppers on my lift and lower knobs for the blower... yes. The guy had them there to prevent the blower from going to high when driving so the shaft would not break.. the way it's set I can't go higher than what it is set and I wouldn't want to have it higher to be honest.. but I doubt I would not notice my blower is to high.. how should they be set?

As of now I'm only doing paved drives and wouldn't need to have it set for gravel but would be nice to know. Figure you guys say below the know instead of above it to adjust height when going down on dirt.. etc..

True, but if you have implements that can raise to high and prefer them on the top, that's fine also.
Whichever works best for you.
