I recently acquired a 2002 4210 MFWD EHydro from my father in law.
It has 700 hours on it. I have several questions about so I will list them.
When I brought it home, I changed the Antifreeze, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, and Oil and Filter, and topped off the Hydraulic fluid.
1. I have run it about 5 hours or so, and in that time, I have gotten 3 codes flashing on the maintenance button.
The first two were Fly Wheel Speed Sensor out of spec, and MFWD Speed Sensor out of spec. Both of these were flashing at the same time, and the tractor would stop moving abruptly, and you would have to let off the pedal and press again, and it might go and then stop again, or it would just go again for some time. So I looked under the foot pedals and I unplugged the forward and rear Potentiometer's put dielectric grease in the plugs and reassembled, I also covered the wires coming out of the plugs better. Then I did the same to the plugs that were outside the pedals, and zip tied them up closer to the chassis, so they wouldn't get hit as easily with sticks.
After I did all that, I drove it again and got a different code that was "Calculated Value for coil resistance exceeds the valid range due to open or short circuit". At that point it would stop moving completely and you would have to cycle the key to get it to reset. So I left it alone for an hour or two and went back out and ran it again, and it never did it again. I then sprayed fences with it yesterday and the Fly Wheel Speed sensor code came back again, but it never did quit moving.
All of that to get to the question. Should I replace the flywheel sensor, or is there more going on than that? From what I have read, replacing that can start a crazy spiral of electronic issues.
Can anyone please help with that?
2. Is the 4210,4310,4410 models all the same tractor except for engine size and HP/TQ? The reason I ask this is because I saw in a publication that the 4210 has a 65 inch wheel base and the other 2 had a 68, but I don't see how that can be when they have the same hoods, grills and other parts.
3. Do you have to adjust the valves on these periodically? If so what is the spec.
4. Does anyone have a service manual or owners manual for these. I can't find the one that came with it.
Thank You for any and all help.
