I had been looking for a used Ellis miter band saw but could never find one. I ran across this one on Ebay. It is an industrial saw made in tiwan, It is verry well made and heavy. It weighs 340lbs. It will angle 45deg in either direction. It also has a coolant pump. It is bigger than I needed. It will cut 12"x12" at 90 deg. It was advertised with a buy it now for $1100. I got it for $346 plus shipping:thumbsup:

I'm almost scared to ask even though I'm not the one paying for the shipping, but how much was shipping and did they just ship on a pallet or crate it?

You can forever replace bearings and electric motors. That makes this fine saw a Lifetime bargain. I wish I had it; I would also like to rip it up in that car that's in the back ground.

They banded it to a pallet and put a heave plastic bag that was like heat shrink over it. Then shrunk the bag so every thing was tight. Shipping from ND to IL was $140 through SpeeDee delivery. I was verry happy with the shipping and got it in 2 days. I got the shipping quote before I bid on it. I was guessing arround $250 wasn't going to bid on it.I am glad I checked.

Wow. I wouldn't have even thought twice about buying it out of fears shipping would double the cost. Nice looking band saw. I have a friend with a Kalamazoo and those bigger band saws work great. Before he got it he had a cheap Chinese one. If you didn't use your hand to limit the down pressure the blade would wander no matter how tight it was. His new one has an adjustable cylinder so you can set the rate and walk away. He also uses a cutting fluid that you mix with water, works good and is easy to clean up.

Great deal Bill. That's a very nice tool to have and it looks as if you stole it. I have a similar one in my shop with an adjustable hydraulic cylinder for down pressure and a built in coolant system. I don't use it every day but when I need to cut thick stock I chuck it in and walk away and let it do it's thing.
You did good sir. Congrats.

I got every thing set up and running. It works great . What I need to know is what to use for cooling fluid. The manual doesn't say. I was thinking about using antifreeze. What ever I use it has to be somthing that will clean off easy. Most of what I cut will be tig or mig welded so it has to be easy to clean.

Just go to harbor freight and pick up a jug of water soluble (sp) cutting fluid, that is what is always used on these.
