Ask the current owner what maintenance has been done in the past and at what hour reading...oil/filter change, hydraulic oil/filter change, fuel filter change, antifreeze change, so you can pick up where he left off and avoid spending $ you don't have to.

Best advice given me 25 years ago: that is not a piece of heavy industrial equipment, it is a piece of agricultural equipment. Therefore it must be treated as such or you will break it. Meaning don't use it as you would a dozer, for example.

If you need to do some real heavy work, then rent or hire the appropriate piece.

My Father gives out the same advice to me all the time. Only it sounds more like "It's a Tractor not a Bulldozer!" LOL
