Howard was bought by Kongskilde, and is still actively marketed. They are distributed in the US and Canada by the Canadian subsidiary, who can be contacted as shown below. They should be able to steer you to a dealer who can provide parts.

I have a JD660 tiller (German made) and have noted here on TBN that the 560-660 tillers are considered to be made by Howard. I don't know that for a fact; but, your reference might help in the future if my 660 has a problem.

Found a dealer in Northern Illinois who has an ability to get the gears. Looked at JD, but the gears are different.
