New (to me) Kubota L4240

This forum is a great resource. I started shopping a few weeks ago for a 40-50 HP tractor. My budget was open but I wanted to get a good value. So I have spent a lot of time reading various post on different tractors. It seems most of my questions could be answered with a search in the different forums. I had it narrowed down to JD, Kubota, or LS based on my area and local support. I almost pulled the trigger on a used JD 4720 decked out just like I wanted but just couldn't justify the cost. So I had decided that a new LS XR4046HC would fit my needs. But on the way to give them one last test drive I stopped at the Kubota dealer and found a mint 2012 Kubota L4240HST. Used but still had the plastic on the seat. So after a little dealing and adding some hydraulics where I needed them I pulled the trigger. With the difference in cost from the JD I was able to order a Wicked Root Grapple and will have quite a bit left over to shop for more goodies.

So thanks to all of those post and good information floating around on these forums I am looking forward to a lot of good playtime. I'll post a few pics later when I take delivery.

Congrats and enjoy;I have had my L4240 HSTC for four years and it has been very good.Be sure to try out the HST+ and auto throttle advance.I run mine in Medium 99% of the time;up shift and down shift as needed.Mine has 880 hours of plowing dirt,snow plowing and roto-tilling,brush-hogging ect.
Additions to mine:tooth-bar,Green's Machine Thumb,third fuction(FEL mounted snow plow&thumb),rear view camera,LED work lights.

Good deal. That's a great tractor with a reliable engine and the three point hitch lifts way more weight than you would expect it to.

You sure made out on that deal, we also considered the JD4720 and liked it, but I can't use left foot brakes, so I traded my L5030 on an L5740 and really love the GL40 Series. There are some threads on here by 4shorts, 94BULLITT, Waxman and others who have some nice modifications.
