New to me L5740 HST was hiding a surprise in the filter

An update on the transmission surging:

I believe the issue was electrical in nature. Unlike the -30 series, the -40 has no physical linkage to the HST. There's a variable resistor on the pedal, and one on the cruise. The one on the pedal was nominally in spec when I measured it with the meter. Replacing the resistors, and putting new proportional valves on have remedied the issue.

Thanks for letting us know, I sure like the ease of use on the L40 v L30, now I'll now what to check.
