I would eventually like to give my Massey 1020 a face lift but it still gets used almost daily and I can't spare the time of having it down.
I broke the shifter on mine too. I couldn't get a hold of a new one so I chucked the ball in the lathe, end faced it, drilled and tapped it for a 3/8" threaded rod and did the same with the handle in the drill press and put lock nuts between the two parts and threaded them together.
