Purchased these forks off ebay and installed them today, want to weld a bit more on the inside of the bucket but ran out of wire. I installed the hooks to a piece of angle iron, then attached that to the bucket. You can drive under the hooks to either put them on or take them off. My only concern is that they are kind of high so will take some getting used to, will probably add something to show when I have them level as well. Used them today to move some logs to the woodmill as well as to move some brush piles and they worked fine.

d martin it looks as if thr fork rides up on a rock or piece of wood that the top rod may come out of the {J} channal holders, a lock down like a piece of flat steel with two holes drilled so that a nut and bolt at each end will keep the bar from jumping out of the {J} holders,? I need to make that for my log mill also, beets a chain or graple, the graple works good though, but not as good as forks. paul

Thanks, makes sense. Didn't think that what makes it easy to put them on or off might be an issue. I'm going to get some welding wire today so might get a small piece of steel to make a lock. Thanks again.

HOw bout welding few "keepers" on the U-brackets, so the rod doesn't pop out?

Obtw, stitch welding is plenty of weld on your long bucket weld. You dont need a continious weld for strength....

Looks like a neat setup. Maybe a piece of flat stock that flips and is held on one side with a pin and cotter pin. Is that a chipper on the back? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yes, it's a Woods chipper on the back-- had it now for about 2 years and does a great job as long as you keep the blades sharp. It will handle to 5" but I don't usually chip anything over 3" as friends have fireplaces and always willing to take the bigger stuff.

Still thinking about a keeper for the forks-- I don't move very large logs and my mill (Woodmizer LT15) is only 6" off the ground so not a lot of reason to lift a log very high in the first place. Finding it hard to imagine a time where I would have the bucket tilted back far enough and high enough for a log to get over the top?

Dave, my son said, how come dave didn't just drill the needed size hole the same size as the rod through the side of the bucket at the top? I said, he probley,,,I'mmm , O go home I said, to him, wise I think it would have saved you a lot of time and all you neede to do was slide the parts onthe rod and place a cotter pin to hold it on. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Sometimes when backing up and using the loader an operator can forget and pick up or roll back too far. Or if you ever use the forks to move brush, and roll back while the forks are high, the forks could come back into your lap. I would recommend some way to keep the forks attached to the bucket.
