TX mower, thank you for the thorough response. That is exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for. Hoye is going to be a life saver for me.

California, I believe the tractor has been sitting out in the weather for the past 18 months. It doesn't take long here in Florida to destroy equipment left out in the elements.

kenmac, You guys are right. I'm going to do a full fluid/filter swap. The radiator concerns me too. A lot of the fins are bent and I'll bet it's been running with straight water. The inside of the radiator overflow shouldn't have dried up rust inside of it.

I'm surprised the tractor is running as good as it does. That's a testament to the durability of these little tractors.

Tx was right on on all his things. Just from reading i was going to me tion the knob, he was right. I will say leave it all the way open always unless your serviceing 3pt and want it up. It can tear up your pump, its not a lowering speed control like some think, thats on the valve.

I agree not necessarily under water. This is the south, the sun, rain and humodity will ruin anything left out. California is from , well as the name leads you to think....California. now i know he is coastal and. Aybe they have sinilar humidity but for some reason i didnt think they had it?

Oh i also ment to mention the steering. Just tighten thoe bolts, them working loose is a common problem. Make sure the box is full of fluid too, fill theough steering wheel or shaft, i cant remember now? Dont want water if it was submerged.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have not made any progress on this tractor yet. Hunting season is in full swing and I'm about to head to SW TX for two weeks. I'll begin work on the tractor mid December. Thanks for all the info so far.
