New to site. Need some expert buying advice

Hello Everyone!

I am looking to buy a riding mower tractor for a 1.5 acre property. My wife and I are expecting our first child in august and decided to move out of the city to the burbs in CT. I always wanted a riding mower and have been looking into purchasing one. Have checked out Cub Cadet, Husq, Craftsmen, Arien, and some others.

I am hoping someone can give me some buying advice. My budget is $1500.

This is the 5th season on my $899 Huskee riding mower (42" deck) from Tractor Supply to handle grass mowing around my 10-acre place. Nice mower with a hydrostatic transmission and mow-in-reverse feature.

I bought the 5 year service contract for $125 to cover any problems. So far it's done OK. I mow about 1/4 acre of tall fescue lawn and about 3/4 acre around the shop, the grape trellises (2 of them) and the almond orchard.
