The FTX-100L tips the scale at just under 14,000 lbs and the 2008 F-350 is rated to tow 17,700. That does not leave much room for the trailer weight but I towed my 140 for 2 weeks with a SRW F-250 with a 5.4. I was not very cozy with that much weight and I did go out and get an F-450 but I did not kill myself or the truck. My dealer's nephew runs both a 90 and a 140 and he says that the 90 with the knives will cut with the 140. I was planning to run knives on my 140 but the rocks have been to bad since they became available so I can not tell you how it would run with them. Without making a short story to long buy the biggest machine you can afford, I have heard many guys on here and I agree that you will run out of power very quickly. Test the water before you buy any machine try to line some work up before you bring one home. Run knives where you can they are tons faster. The heads with the option to operate with carbides or knives are the best, that way you do not have to turn down any work.
I would also like to add that the FTX-140 is awesome for selective clearing, after you get a feel for the machine you can get within a couple of inches of a tree trunk and not touch it. The steel tracks do not dig any deeper than the fecon head. If you are forced to make a tight pivot turn and you pile up some dirt or mulch all you have to do is backdrag over the area and it is good as new. I have cleared for many septic drain fields and the county inspector is fine with the minimal disturbance that my 140 creates. Short story long again the 140 size machine will do anything that the small rubber tracks will do, and then do a lot more that the smaller machines can not do.
