New to tractors, need help

I had a BX 2230 with a mmm and fel, and I ended up selling it for a B7800. The BX's are real workhorses, and I have no complaints about them, but needed something with more clearance and handle a 5' hog. I finish mow about 5 acres of yard, (2.5 hrs.) but also have logging roads that go down into a hollow and a hillside that I brush hog. If your land is flat as you say, and you're staying off of hillsides, the BX may be for you. But mine was a little squirrely on hills and I did a lot of leanin'. I did end up getting a T1570 lawn tractor to use closer to the house and the wifes obstacle course because the 7800 is a little larger. The BX did just fine around the house because of its smaller frame. I have a 60" mower deck on the 7800, and it does a fine job. the place looks like a golf course, and you'll find uses for the fel that you wouldn't imagine.
I think from what you have said, the BX is the way to go.
Also, a few of my JD owning buddies have either gotten rid of the JD's or want to after playing with my orange tractors. I have absolutely no complaints about Kubota. They're fine machines.

woodmanscott - it sounds like you might find the Glossary at BXTractors.info of some help. I had the same questions as you, a short while ago.

-I have talked myself out of the need for a backhoe to dig trees as there is absolutely no trees on our land. I figured I would not have a need for a backhoe after planting trees so I might as well rent something for a day or two.

A post hole auger with a 12" bit does a good job for planting trees. The tractors you are looking at will handle one well and if you have to rent a machine more than once it will cost about the same as renting.
