In 2010 I went from working in nightclubs for 27-years in Houston, to owning my own 44-acre cattle ranch in a micro-town just south of Shreveport, LA.

18-acres of hay-field, two 10-acre cow pastures, and a half dozen lawn-acres around the houses, barn, work-shed, garden etc...

I have a dozen Angus heifers, some calves, and they will need quite a bit of hay this winter.

My bales are about 1200-1250 pounds and they are lined up in my hay-field.

To move those bales into my cow pastures, I reckon I am gonna need a tractor in the next 30 days or so. Plus some tractor implements to include a front bucket, a hay-fork, a bush-hog, and a trailer.

Which (pre-owned) tractor is a darn good question, and I am pretty much clueless. My biggest concern is how much tractor do I need? I figure that I can find plenty of threads on the subject. Surely, that question has been asked before. ;)

Hence, me signing up to educate myself.

Welcome, Education is good. I would post your Question in our Haying Forum so you would be asking real Farmers that do Hay.
