New Tool Box

Thanks. I just got back from Sam's. It does have ball bearing slides. I'm really impressed with the quality for the price. Heck, I'm impressed with the quality without taking the price into consideration. I have one in my barn now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Awesome, but it looks like it would be a shame to put greasy, dirty tools in it.
I think I'd return it back to the hospital where I stole it from. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Dargo,
Now you can tell your wife that it just wouldn't be right to put old tools in that shiney new tool cabinet. You will new at least a few new ones. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mine's full but for 1 small drawer, all others are full, it's heavy and I see no evidence of stress. Glad I bought pallet forks for the tractor for if I ever have to move it..LOL. Holds all my air tools both mechanical and carpentry (3 nailers including a framing nailer) and 5 peices of Dewalt battery tools. It's was perfect for elimination of 2 heavy mechanic boxes (now in the barn with the stray tools in them........ /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and loose tools stashed all over the place. Needless to say I'm very happy with mine.

I also had been contemplating a large ball bearing toolbox for along time and when a friend showed me the CSPS box it was a no brainer. I had been leaning toward the Kobalt at Lowes for quite awhile at about $1000 for similar pair.

I loaded mine up with all the tools in the other box plus all the loose ones I hadn't been able to house and not only does it fit with room to spare, the drawers move very smothly and easily too. I'm pretty happy with it so far........

When my brother had the Matco Tool truck, he told his customers that if they changed jobs and needed their toolboxes moved, he'd take care of that for them. Actually what he did was paid me to do it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I had a 5' x 10' tiltbed trailer and I'd just winch the boxes onto the trailer with my 4 ton come-along.

I'm going to be purchasing a new Snap-on tool box pretty soon. I've got a 65 inch tall by 40 inch wide craftsman premium seriese in black, a faily large craftsman bottom, intermediate and top chest's, a smaller craftsman roll cab, and a 14 year old double bank 51 inch wide snap on roll cab that i'm trading in for one larger Snap-on Box. I was thinking about the KRL1022 roll cab and the KRL1201A top chest. But my craftsman boxes have held up great for many many years i got the smallest one when i was three and used it as a dresser in my room then i retired it to the garage. But they all held up great and have had no problems with them but its getting out of control having the whole back wall of my garage being tool boxes, so i sold the craftsman set since the snap on set is getting bigger and minimizing the tool boxes. But I also have to say that there really is a big difference between the two brands. The snap on is all double walled and a lot heavier duty than the craftsman. now that theres no tools in any of them it seems like the craftsman draws are so flimsy you could just bend them in half but they still held up.
I also have seen that box in Sams club. I was also very sceptical on it. Since the price is very low. But it looked pretty nice

The box I replaced with the SS one was also a Craftsman, and you're right about the drawers being flimsy, but as you said, it served me well for about 5 years now so I can't complain. I took mine home to help gather up all the loose stuff that wouldn't fit in the other Craftsman I have at home.
I also have a Snap-On top box that I've had for over 35 years, it still looks and works like new. I like Snap-On stuff, and most of my hand tools are Snap-On, but boy howdy have they gotten expensive.................

Great looking tool box, and the stainless steel fits in appropriately with the food industry look. Now, all you need is a large bottle of stainless steel polish. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
My tool box's are Snap-On 1960's vintage along with the tools in them. When I was using them extensively, I would never consider purchasing all my Snap-On tools new, because the prices on the used ones were a much better buy. The Snap-On dealer that I was dealing with would purchase the entire contents of boxes when people were getting out of the business and then sell the used tools to his better accounts that paid in full rather than string it out for months. Today, you can find a lot of Snap-On tools on eBay for about 60% of the new price. This is where I look first if I need to replace something. The only tool that I won't purchase is one that has been engraved with someones name or number. I also have picked up some at flea markets and yard sales. Some of my ratchets are so old that they no longer supply replacement parts to repair them. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

PS....... I am looking for a few replacement drawers for my old Snap-On box. For some reason the previous owner removed a few drawers to put larger items in the bottom and disposed of the drawers. They are no longer available from Snap-On. The measurement is 21 1/2" x 18 1/2" x 3 3/4" high. The other missing one is 1 3/4" high. This is the inside measurements of the drawers.
The picture is one of Snap-On's early tool storage systems...
