Got a real good deal (haven't pulled the trigger yet) on a '03 Ford F250 SC 5.4 V8 only has 8500 miles and it is "factory certified" with a 6 yr/75K mile warranty. I know the gas mileage on these isn't very good but is there anything else I should be aware of? It has the tow package rated for 12,500 pounds, sure beats the 5,000 pound rating on my Ranger.

If by that, you mean a good price, ought to be a real nice tow vehicle.

How much weight and how far will you be towing? I had that 5.4 engine in my first Super Duty. I owned that one for about 1 1/2 years before I sold it and bought the 7.3 Powerstroke. There is absolutely no comparison. I realize what I,m about to write will po someone, but this my .02. I tried towing my 7X14 Haulmark 7000# rated at highway speeds of 70. It would just barely stay in OD. Took it on a trip out west with just a hint of slope and couldn't go over 65 and couldn't keep it in OD. With the diesel I can drive at any speed (safley) in OD and not beat the snot out of my truck. By the way, all the Super duty F250 thru the F350 dually are all rated for 12500# towing capacity. If you don't plan on spending alot of time towing decent size loads, the 5.4 will probbaly work for you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
