Well since you have the Hemi, you know its blasphemy to the horsepower gods leave the stock exhaust on it don't you? I guy I work with just put flowmaster 1 in 2 out on his and its louder in a good way but not excessive.

Nice truck, hfd376. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I have enjoyed mine which I bought new in 94. I have played with the engine quite a bit and it dynoed 403 hp to the ground and 800 ft lb of torque. Sure is fun when those kids in their hopped up Toyota's want to show off!

Thanks for the replies. I do see a bomb or two in the future. Since I hardley ever go to wide open throttle, I looking for best bang for the buck in the 700-2300 or so rpm range.

When the quieter duramax engine came out....Cummins followed the trend and lessened the noise level in their engine. It had to pass the "Wendy's " test. With the older engines, if you tried to order at the drive in window at Wendy's , you had to shut the engine off. With the 02 engine, it was quiet enough to keep running and place an order.
Congratulations on the truck, and may you get a million miles out of the cummins. The body will fall apart before the engine goes.

Pete:

You are right about one thing. The body WILL fall apart before the engine gives out.

I's probably falling apart right now.

The cummings 600 is just as quite.
It does have a cat converter. I think the non 600s do not.
This gives it a little bit different sound. But still very quite compared to the older cummings or ford 7.3s.

Get yourself an AFE intake, ATS manifolds, injectors, and the EDGE and have some fun /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Oh add some guages for boost and exhaust gas temp too /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I go to TDR and lurk every so often. Its a good site, I'll probably subscribe to the magazine soon. not sure about the bombs yet, if I i anything it would be something for fuel economy. I usually read the forums at Dieseltruckresource.com. They have a chapter/group in Virginia and I think they're getting ready to have a dyno day in Claremont, Va. this summer.

Nice truck! I have a '98 24v and I love it. Great fuel mileage (18-24 mpg) and it pulls like a locomotive. It has been the most cost-effective vehicle I have ever owned from a maintenance standpoint. 111K and not a dime spent on anything other than normal wear items like oil, filters, tires, etc.
I second the idea of checking out the TDR webpage. Just like TractorByNet, the Turbo Diesel Register is a tremendous resource. Join the TDR and get the magazine, its worth it.
