Tractor
Massey Ferguson GC2300
I just picked up my new toy yesterday. I am now the proud owner of a MF GC2300 FEL, MMM. This is my first real tractor so I have been lurking in the shadows researching which tractor to buy for a while now and many of your thoughts, opinions and experiences lead me to the MF. Thanks! I have just over 2 acres of land and this bad boy will make my life a whole lot easier. I'll be clearing some more land, moving dirt piles left by the previous owners, landscaping and moving firewood with it. Of course I'll have to play around and get used to it first - took a nice chunk of lawn up with the loader... whoops. Lucky I got plenty of practice space. I got about 2 hours in yesterday and must say I'm impressed with the power and maneuverability. It corners pretty good. Enough for now, I'll post some pics when I get a chance. I just want to say that since I never owned a real tractor before (this is an upgrade from a Craftsman lawn tractor) thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge. It made the decision making process an easy one. I would have never considered things such as PTO, full class I hitch etc... Now which implements to buy... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here's a picture of me on the new tractor. The manuals are not the best I've ever seen - I've seen many comments here regarding this. Attaching the MMM was a real treat the first time. I have the procedure down now after after a few attempts. Same with removal/re-attachment of the FEL. First time I tried it I didn't compress the cylinders enough so the hoses didn't reach /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Got it down the second attempt though lol.

I did have one small issue with a leaking hydraulic line. I gave it a tiny 'tweak' and no more leak. Other than the bad documantation and small leak everything else has been great. I'm currently in the process of making a rear weight for it. I've incorporated ideas from a couple of projects I've seen here I'll post some pics when I'm done. Once again, thanks for sharing! I'll share what I can - but don't expect too much /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Saw this post and got even more excited. I'm planning on picking one up for myself in about two weeks. We bought a 17 acre horse farm last year and I have destroyed the old Craftsman lawn tractor trying to keep up with everything. I also have some property improvements I want to make. I think this little baby may have just enough guts to do what I need.

Artman67, First Congrats on the new unit, I'm sure you will be lying awake at night thinking of all the projects you can use your new tool for :)

Volcamp, I'm thinking you can definately get alot more done with the massey than the craftsman :for sure ..... But with 17 acres you might consider a size up or so like 1528 / 1533 but there I go spending someone else's money again, On the other hand a GC2310TLB can really re-arrange the landscape, Have you collected all the brochures yet...and compared spec's....

A good idea would be to search this site and read all you can about your choices before you make your final decision... I only have 5acres and I have a 1433v ,But with my trailer I can do an occasional side job and have enough tractor to do it with ....It all depends on your situation;) Something to think about...

Nasty135, I have been! I've already done all the firewood for next year - i tusually takes me well into July to finish and done some major landscape improvements. Now I need some attachments! Not sure if I'll go with a box blade, or a rear blade, rake.... decisions, decisions.

Volcamp, I can't speak from that much experience since this too was an upgrade from a Craftsman tractor, but I'm TOTALLY satisfied with the machine. It has done everything I needed it to. I only have a little over 2 acres but I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I also made a bit of a mistake, I let my wife use the loader. Now I have to hide the keys!

Artman,

Congratulations. I won't let my wife near power equipment since she "helped" me and added oil to the gas in our Cub Cadet. Apparently she thinks everything is a 2 stroke!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the approx cost? I'm in Massachusetts and am looking at the GC2300, Kubota BX2350 and the NH TZ22DA. I'm thinking they will all be around $13,500 with the MMM, FEL and Ballast Box. The more I read about the Massey's the more impressed I am. Little heavier, stronger FEL, etc.
