Most of the post I’ve seen on TBN are for ½ acre and larger ponds over 10 ft deep. Which would be a lot of work for a 2910 and it’s attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I would recommend the 72" MMM though. It will get the lawn cut faster. Also it is easier to move around when removing and installing. Because it has caster wheels on all 4 corners of the mower deck.

thcri- I'm about 200 miles North of you, right outside of Duluth.
Ron- AWESOME pond. That's exactly the reason I need a bota at the new house. Exactly. You did fine work and your fine tractor was a major asset. It looks a tad bit bigger than what I had in mind for my turn-around pond. Any words of advice are more than appreciated. I'll be digging in light clay/sand for the most part. How much time was invested? If you don't mind, how many $$$ total. If that's private info, I understand completely. Do you have a gallon estimate for vloume? I was thinking of having the local milk hauler bring home a tank of water after his final rinse and fill it that way. I don't want to run my new well dry the first year. LOL
I will also check into the 72" MMM today.
The belly scraper has it's purpose, but I'd hate to be stuck at the bottom of a hole. I'd rather be on the outside looking in.

I started the pond last Memorial Day weekend. Put water in it 4th of July weekend. Put fish in it before August. It took awhile. I work for a company that supports automotive assembly plants. From the first of June until the end of August is our busiest time. This meant that I only had one or 2 days to work on projects. I had to buy all the rocks and other landscaping materials. They were expensive to say the least. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I own a 2910 and I love it. I think that you will be very happy with it. I would like to suggest getting the RMM instead of the MMM. I think that you will be happier with it. It is easier to take on and off. It is easier to get around things.
I would also like to suggest looking at the Woods 7500 backhoe. They make a nice backhoe. If not the same a little better in quality. You can save about $1,000.00 by getting this for other attachments. Just something to check out.
I think that if you have a lot of time that you can dig that pond with the tractor. With a toothbar and a little patients you can do it. They are powerful machines and will do a lot. As long as you aren't beating through rock it won't be bad. You also have the backhoe if you need it. I say go for it. It doesn't hurt to try.

I would totally agree that putting the RMM on and off is a lot easier than a MMM. If fact I believe the RMM will actually do a better job of mowing if it is a finish mower. But there is no way a RMM makes it easier to get around things. You constantly have to be watching your front end and the back end. (sore neck the next day). The lenght of your tractor ends up being 5 ft longer. If you have trees to go around the MMM will allow you to just go around the tree, with a rear mount as you go around a tree the mower keeps working its way away from the tree. If you have open area and nothing to really go around, then the RMM is the better deal, otherwise not.
