new tractor choices!

This is from original poster. Here's another twist to the dilemma of which tractor do I want. Keep in my, the choices in my area of NE PA are very limited. Most dealers are few and far between, the ones that are relatively close have very limited stock. We have a used car lot that recently started to sell Mahindra. They have one 4035 on lot [$22430 w/fel, 1 rear remote, loaded tires]. A couple of NH dealers [near here don't have any thing close to what I want] but priced a 3045 from $27600-29214 with the same equipment, or a 3040 from 26000-27650. MF dealer had nothing on lot. Said he would try to work up price when he found out what he could get. I went to another Kubota dealer- priced a grandL 3940 gst at 25950. Didn't have one, but said he could get it. What he did have[ probably the best deal of all] GrandL 5040 w/fel only 28 hrs for $25000.

Sounds like the best deal out of all your choices. Work him down some more. Tractor sales are terrible. Does the 5040 have a cab or OROPS

OROPS

You live in NE PA I live in SE PA. I know your weather is worse than mine in the winter.....knowing that, you should try to get a cab tractor if you have any aversion to bad weather, dust, bugs, etc. I love mine. I'd never buy another OROPS tractor.

Cab vs. no cab depends a lot on where you are and how you use the tractor. The OP didn't give his location, so we don't know.

I thought about a cab when I bought my latest tractor, but didn't think I'd like having to fool with the door every time I got on and off the tractor. I really find that a canopy makes a world of difference when mowing on a hot day. I'm happy with just a canopy and couldn't justify the additional $$$ for a cab. I'm not going to be out there when it's pouring down rain.

As for a "used car dealer who just started selling tractors".... how long will they be in that line of business?

The nice thing around here is that there are ten Kubota dealers within 100 miles, four within 25 miles. Off brand (Kioti, Mahindra, etc.) are few and far between. Resale value will be higher with Kubota, NH, JD, MF, etc.

One other thing to consider with a cab is if you enjoy spending time outdoors or not. A cab is little different than a heated/air-conditioned office. If you have a weekday job in one of those (like I do), you might appreciate an open station more than someone who makes their living outdoors. As I mentioned earlier, there is nothing fun about sitting on an unprotected open tractor under the hot summer sun. Add some motion, by moving the tractors wheels, and it gets a little better (nice breeze). Add some shade (a good canopy), and it gets a lot better. As far as the cold, all you need is a good snow suit, hat, boots, amd mittens. I really enjoy breathing that cool crisp air, and I am way up on the Canadian border in a place known worldwide for its blizzards. I love getting out there and fighting them with my open station 4wd tractor with loader on front and plow on back. So much so that I plow my nieghbor's driveways free of charge.
