new tractor design

And I thought the new NH design was funky. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Can't say I much care for it. Somehow all those sloped curves don't go too well with the basic metal fender look. Sorry!

Kinda interesting. It appears to have a good size deck. Radiator air pulled in from the top. Mine tends to fill up with stuff in the front. Headlights will be probably less effective with a loader like my NH. Gotta like blue. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for all the post! I know a lot of people dont like the sloped hood, etc... , but thats the modern look, I guess.

Here is the 274-1, let me know if yaw think it looks better. It's a little simpler, doesn't have that roman nose.

The seat looks to be kind of whimpy and not much leg room.

Maybe the picture is deceiving. I know a lot of compact tractors are hard to get on and off of, but one of the 1st things we noticed, when we got this tractor was the amount of leg room. These tractors have a lot of leg room! More then any of the chinese models I've seen. More then the 95 model Mahindra we just sold. Boy it was hard to get off of (had to pick my leg up and lift it over the steering wheel to get off). Yes, plenty of room, especially the 254-II, shifter is on each side of the steering wheel, and nothing is between the seat and the dash. Also the seat slides forward or backward. Seems to be a nice seat, spring loaded, adjustable, etc.. Sorry if I sound to strong on this. I dont mind criticism but want to make sure it's accurate. Thanks for the reply, though

Thanks for the bigger picture. There's still a lot you can't see, but at least we can see some aspects of the tractor. Here's my thoughts:

GOOD
1. open operator's platform
2. visibility and access to the rear of the tractor from the seat. If you have to reach over the back, you can do it with this tractor.
3. plenty of ventilation in the hood (see also the not-so-good)
4. fair visibility over the front of the hood

NOT-SO-GOOD
1. Needs handgrips on fenders
2. Nose is very long and sticks out in front of the front frame. If you bump into something, you'll be replacing the lights or a crunched hood. How would you put front weights on it?
3. Hood openings on the top of the hood are bad. ...just my experience with my own tractor. Rain goes right into those vent openings.

QUESTIONS:
1. can't see details of operator area, instruments, levers, markings, etc.
2. what about 3PH area?
3. does hood raise up or do you have to remove panels?
4. What are tractor's specs?

I'm sure there are lots more things to discuss, but a single photo of the side of a tractor will raise as many questions as it answers. I do think they really need to do something with that long nose because I can see lots of accidental damage happening there. Of course, an FEL would help, but that's not in the picture either.

So my opinion would be some good, some bad, some "I dunno." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks, that is the kind of post I was looking for.

To answer your questions, the hood on the 254 has removable side panels. The 274 has a hood that raises up. The 274 comes with an optional koyker loader, and koyker is in the process of making one for the 254.

The 274 does have handles on the fenders, but I dont remember if the 254 does. I will have to take a look tomorrow. Sorry about the bad pictures but I dont have a digitol camera and pictures are from what I have rounded up.
I will attach a pic of the instrument area, but it is not a great pic.
Tractor specs, the 254 is 3 cyl. diesel 4wd w/ shuttle shift, it has a smooth shifting syncromesh transmission, 25 hp, 7.9 gal. fuel capicity, transmission gears 16(8 forward, 8 reverse). 65.4" wheel base, overall length 119.3", duel stage clutch, 4 wheel drive --front wheel disengage, 3395 lbs operational weight.

274 is similar but without the shuttle shift and syncromesh trans. Smaller tires, etc...

Thanks again

I like that picture. It gives you the operator's perspective. The instrument pod looks very much like my NH modular pod. The operator's platform looks very open and the visibility is good.

Those are some interesting specs. on the tractors. 3395 lb seems a little much for a 25 HP tractor, but with the diesel and 4WD, that's not an outrageous number. It does weigh almost as much as my NH TC45D without the loader. That's a real surprise. On wet or soft ground, it might leave some deep ruts with those skinny ag tires.

There really are lots of variables. Thanks for taking the time to post additional pictures. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Fenders too tight for chains /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ok, it does have handles on the fenders.

I will attach the specs that I have.

Thanks
