If someone has not already told you, the easiest way to learn to back a trailer is to put you hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Then if you want the trailer to go to the left, move your hand (turn the steering wheel) to the left. If you want the trailer to turn to the right, move your hand to the right. Best to start with the vehicle and trailer lined up straight, go slow, and don't oversteer.

GreaseMonkey,

That is excellent advice!

I heard that a good way to learn is to back up (by hand) one of those little red wagons your kids have. similar principle...

I'm getting better at it myself, I'm going to try your advice next time the trailer is on...

Lady Rancher,

Welcome aboard ma'am! Just like GreaseMonkey's post, you will find a wealth of info and help here on TBN.

Be well all,

David

I have my first ranch and three tractors; a John Deere 4030, a Kubota M4900 and Yanmar 2210. I call them Papa, Momma and baby tractor. i still have a lot to learn about using them. My husband is a computer geek and no help at all so I am hoping to get some good advice and help in here on the TractorBy Net forums

Welcome to TBN--join the fun. So, how'd you acquire three tractors? Are you collecting and restoring. That's my bag--one good tractor (Mahindra 5525) and five oldies ranging from a 1945 Oliver 60 to a 1964 Massey Ferguson 135 diesel). My shop is overflowing with disassembled tractors:eek:.
