New tractor owner Needs Info

...ROPS.can anyone give me some leads on some that I can lower and raise quickly without giving up safety.I would like to be able to get under low branches.

I posted to another new-owner thread yesterday showing links to old threads that describe the preferred model of ROPS.

Dealers showing an online list of supported models include LMTC in Ohio and Hoye Tractor in Texas in addition to Fredericks.

And I just went out and took a photo of the hinge detail for you. The perspective is from the driver's position looking back.

Please excuse the cluttered picture! It also shows my water bottle carrier attached to the ROPS, and the upper object is a grab handle I added for getting up on the backhoe.

Folding the ROPS can be done from the driver's seat but it's a little easier from the ground. You pull a spring clip then pull out a hitch pin on each side. Then re-pin it in the horizontal position.

Seen them.Checked them out at a dealer here local that sells thier Refurbs.Which most of them all uses them as a parts supplier.They won't fold down no were near as low as I need them to.Thats got me back thinking to fabricate my own.They may not be OSHA but will be safer than nothing at all.Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the concern. Sad accident.It may have worked doing that before but not to bright of an idea IMO.I've already seen the proper way to attach the OSHA, ROPS.To the axel housing. I just need it to be hinged lower to serv my needs.Next time I'm at the bone yard they will be on my list to look for.

I just bought a YM2000BD to work food plots useing a 4' KingCutter bushog
and am in love with this thing! I have used several different tractors over the years, and with this gearing combo and its compact size,its great!! To answer your question,finish mower or bushog, it really depends on what you want to cut,,bushogs are not much for lawns.

A bush (brush) hog and a finish mower are two different attachments used for two different jobs. A bush hog is heavier duty used to cut rougher terrain whereas a finish mower is basically a big lawn mower used to cut your grass. It's all according to your needs as to which to buy.

Also, keep in mind that the rice paddy tires or even a cleated tire in general is pretty rough on your lawn. If using a finish mower most guys change their tires to the smoother turf tires.

Most? We have sold hundreds of finish mowers with these tractors and probably 4 sets of turf tires. Turfs are fine if you will never do anything but mow on level ground. On a grade they can slip/spin on wet grass and end up tearing the sod out by the roots. They are useless on any surface that is not firm. The impressions the lug tire makes in a yard if it is too soft usually come out each winter with the repeated freeze/thaw cycles of the ground which cause the ground to raise and fall. I suspect farther south this wouldn't be as effective in removing those marks.

Yeap.I also heard of people saying that the turf tire will flatten down wet grass preventing an even cut.
