I bought my first tractor for 400.00 dollars a 50s ferguson gas , struggled with it for two years and then bought a 20 hp nortrac for 3500 cash quickly realized my mistake and saved for a year and used my tax refund and trade to purchase a 1910 ford for 6500 tinkered and babied it for three years then traded it in for a new kioti ck 30 so far I am very happy I did finance about half of the cks value but I drive a ten year old truck and live pretty simply , I own all of my equipment out right except the ck , and to me its pretty pompass for a guy to say I pay cash blah blah , I love all the little boss hogs on tbn its easy to pay cash if you have cash , but if you are a young guy working up from boot strap poor with no help from anyone ever EVER then maybe a couple c notes a month for a tractor is okay for you,

Occasionally, I feel a sense of envy whenever I see someone post about their acquisition of a shiney new tractor but it quickly fades as I remember that the only reason I don't have one is because I have chosen to spend my money elsewhere. That said, the day will come when I am able to buy a new tractor, it's simply a matter of time.

Or in my case when I was young I didn't own a tractor. I did all of the work by hand. Call it pompous that some of us decided to wait until they had the money to buy it outright but I know of a lot of people who are not rich who would go down to the car dealer with cash and buy a car. They did so because they were raised with the concept that living with in their means meant saving up ahead of time is much better than financing and hoping you'll always be able to make your payments.

Well that is a little silly, if you have been reading long you will know a lot of us have had it as bad or were as poor as you, I was homeless as a young man. Years ago, my brother and I had to combine our funds to buy an old tractor then fix it up. I can pay cash now because of a lifetime of hard work by me and my wife, doing without and saving our money.

when I was looking to purchase my new tractor, I found that much of the free interest really wasnt free and was added back to the overall price of the tractor. I used the 0% for 24 months on mine which was same as cash price so I left my money in the bank and used it to pay cash for my new house that was being built at the time. Since I was not sure of the final price on it, I preferred to stay liquid on my money to pay for the house. It ended up that I had enough liquid assets to pay for the house and tractor but once financed at no interest, I just let it ride out till next Oct when I make the final $1532 payment. I also saved about $400 per year on my tractor insurance thru Agri-Credit compared to adding it to my homeowner policy.

I too started with nothing so I know the struggles you face as a young person.

I bought my NEW JD 5105M last fall with 0 down and 0% for 60 months. Yep....financed the WHOLE thing with a large monthly payment made via auto pay.:D

I think most, if not all if us, started with nothing. It takes time, hard work and discipline. A little luck once in a while doesn't hurt either.

It's important to develop skills and knowledge that are in demand, as well.

I had to get loans but I tried to be careful with credit and did without of a lot of cool things I wanted.

Ive worked all my life for what Ive obtained. It sounds like a little jealousey in your comment. I along with all of us on here before your comment have stated we have either worked and saved, or borrowed as needed etc.... etc..... I dont recall any one saying anything negative about how anyone got their tractor. I for one do not like your statement.I paid cash,I paid cash for all of my equipement, and thats the way it is. SO get over it , and get on.
