Are people still seeing steel surcharges or have they been absorbed into the regular pricing

Steel has come way down in pricing on the futures. Think it's less than half of what it peaked at

Please explain.
People still need equipment & vehicles, even when interest rates are high.
However, when they buy them with higher interest rates, the cost of ownership is higher, so their bank accounts get depleted more (than they would if interest rates were low)

Interest rates aren’t curbing equipment & vehicle purchase desires, but they are depleting purchasers bank accounts.

That's right. The only thing that curbs unhealthy desires - financial or physical - is self-control.
The way around that problem when it is mechanical is to simply repair the old one & continue.
Not a popular solution, but previous generations did it - so the same would work for us.

And that's the difference. Don't even waste looking at crappy or unpopular machinery. That's the mistake too many make the first time they buy used. I know I sure did. I brought home some real dogs.

Smarter buyers on a budget learn real quick to pay the price for good models. Those are the ones where "old & worn" is acceptable because a novice can learn to deal with age & wear. Good ones are designed to be maintained.
But abused equipment or oddball models are just crap & not worth it.

Easy to tell as well by the amount of filth and dried grease on a used machine for sale, either that or a '5 gallon finish' sprayed over old grease and crud. Worn and maintained is ok. Flogged and neglected isn't ok.

Only thing cheap junk will get you is lots of headaches.

We really like the; rain as its so seldom
that we get rain and for snow we haven't
seen any for a few years but when it snows
it reminds me of a verse in the bible Jesus
will make our sins WHITE AS SNOW!
:I hope we get some snow this winder 2 to
three feet of it because when it melts it will
soak into the ground instead of just running
off

In reality. new tractor sales ARE declining, especially smaller non ag units because those fall under luxury purchases not necessity purchases and with the economy what it is, luxury items take a backseat to necessities.

Big units will always sell because most producers I know, turn over equipment at least every 5 years or when a unit is completely depreciated and there is no tax advantage in keeping it.
