Hi all.

Well, I finally got my tractor. It is a L3010, used with 229 hours. We bought a 5' Bush Hog Squealer. I got the bulk of the brush cutting done, but have evidently broke a shear pin. The blades still turn when the PTO is engaged, but not fast enough to cut anything but air. Can anyone tell me where the shear pin is that may be causing this problem, and what steps are necessary to replace it. There was no owners manual on the Bush Hog, and the drive shaft is made by Comer. The owners manual is in sad shape, getting wet in our very rare for now rain showers, so prying the pages apart yields less than ideal results. I have found the schematic drawings on Bush Hog's website, but I would prefer some more experienced advice before I go try to repair the problem.

Thanks in advance, Colin

Colin, page 12 of the owner's manual which you can view and/or print from Bush Hog® even shows a picture of changing the shear pin (actually a bolt; a quarter inch grade 2 if I remember right). It's through the input shaft on the gearbox, behind the rear u-joint on the driveshaft. You may have to turn the blades while holding the driveshaft from turning (or vice versa) to line it up and punch the old bolt out of the hole.
