New Tractor

New L5740 arrived today missing the blower and front chains, but here and working nonetheless! I took delivery as far up the road as the trailer could go then drove it 4 miles up to it's new home. Spent 3 hours clearing parts of the driveway that have been buried all winter with the loader and bucket. It's a great machine. Here are some shots of the machine and the locale. Thanks to everyone for the help over the past few weeks. I'll post more as I use the beast.

I'm on Specie Mesa near Placerville, CO about 20 miles from Telluride, and 70 miles from Montrose. Elevation 9200'

Very nice rig. It looks similar to mine from a distance. No snow here today, but it was -8 F here this morning. We have had a lot more below zero mornings this year than we have had in the last 10 years!

Please tell me that the trailer couldn't make it because there was nowhere to turn around... or very steep... or some such excuse. Because if you're planning on snowblowing all four miles, I might recommend you invest in one of these:

Good for you Mesa!

Just drive and packs down the first few skiffs of snow to build a good base.
Then when you get your first 6+ inches or so, plow that with your Curtis snowplow; start from the center and gradually keep pushing it out as far as you can safely drive. When the side berms become problematic, break out the blower and cut them down. Then plow for next several storms and repeat as needed.

One night next year, you will be out plowing or blowing at around midnight with the snow falling around you, and you will "know the beauty".
