new tractor

I can't figure that one out either. I see all the time about guys getting 4,5 or more different tractors over what seems like only a few years. These are not money makers for these guys, new purchases each time. Common to hear that I had this or I had that several tractors ago. Either these guys have money to burn, or they just can't figure out what size it is that they need. :confused2: Most of the stuff I buy, I plan on having it the rest of my life, resale is not even a consideration. ;)

+1 my main concern is parts support. which so far mahindra hasn't let me down.

With the internet being a major business tool, it is easy to have parts drop shipped at your door.

My thoughts exactly.

That has gotten tougher, as Mahindra used to charge us dealers the shipping plus 5 dollars to drop ship the order, and now they have raised the drop ship charge to 10 dollars. I think they did that get your to go to your local dealer for parts. If you have a small order, the cost of your parts increases a lot.

That stinks... I have picked up parts and had them drop shipped. When my dealer has to order drop ship is nice since they are 40 miles away. still not to bad of a distance compared to some though.

Is it standard for dealers to charge shipping even when you pick up the part at the dealer? I had that happen once. noticed after i got home. I thought, that sucks, not my fault the dealer didn't have it in stock.

I don't know what other dealers do, with me it depends how much you are buying. If I had to order you a $5.00 part, it with shipping would likely cost me $8.00 to $9.00. Of course me being in the northeast shipping cost me more, from Texas, than a dealer in Texas. Such is life.

I cant speak for everyone else, But Im one of those who trades every 4-5 yrs. It works for me such as depreciateion, tax write off, and Last NEW EQUIPEMENT. I dont loose that much ,and I feel I make it up on the work Ive gotten from the machine as far as loss. I dont have money to burn, I just use my money to make me more easier. With the new machines there are alot of advantages, warrnaty etc etc. It works for me. Just my opinnion.

Just curious if you dont mind me asking what kind of work do you do? You dont always see a post like yours and it got me thinkin what kind of work does he do to put enough seat time on a unit to make money and be able to trade them in so often. I own and operate a big truck and at the time of this post I have 907,022 miles on it and unless it turns to a lemon I cannot see trading it in. Payments suck.

Sorry I was just curious.

I don't own a Mahindra, but have used them. Good tractors. Most of the major tractors out there are pretty good - probably none as good as their fan clubs think. The bigger issue, hinted at in these posts, is your local dealer. Unless you have a home machine shop and the knowledge to use it, you will be using your dealer for repair/maintenance work. I recently bought a John Deere CUT simply because the local JD dealer has excellent people and is reliable and reasonably priced. There is no Mahindra dealer close by, and the other tractor dealers don't have the reputation of the JD dealer.

Most tractor companies make an assortment of units to fit most needs, and all seem pretty good overall. To me it's the dealer that makes the difference.

Sometimes that extra fee doesn't help the local dealer as there is more than $10 in cost differences on one filter!
