Hi All, just looking for some help /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have been looking at tractors TC40D for $19,200 with FEL and loaded R4's.
Dealer has a TC45D for $20,300 with FEL and loaded R4's(demo with 20hrs)
JD 4510 best price so far with FEL and loaded R4's $21,400(JD dealer is telling me his is worth the extra $$ due to resale)
I don't know if I will ever sell.

I have a friend pushing me to go Green, I'm not partial since this will be my first tractor. ( I'm leaning to the Boomer becasue I like the features it has)

I have 15 acres in Mid Michigan, I will be moving stuff around with the FEL and also doing about 4 acres of planting for the Deer. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Any input for anyone from anyone /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Are these good prices /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'd go with the TC45D. 20 hours is nothing. I don't believe the resale between the JD and New Holland is any different. In our area, the small JD tractors tend to have lower resales than the Kubotas and NH's, but they all have excellent resale values.

You'll love the extra hp on the 45.

I don't worry all the time of resale value as there is the cost of ownership that enters into the big picture. Take the time to look at the orange guys to but the NH is as good as any you have looked at.

I'd go with the 45 unless you've got a need for a mid/front PTO (belly mower, snowblower etc.). Not available on the 45.

I put 20 hours on my machine in the first week.

It doesn't sound like the $$ are a major concern for you (lucky fellow! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif), so maybe it'll come down to which dealer you're more comfortable with and/or which machine you feel most comfortable operating. You should operate all of them under similar conditions so you're comparing them on the same criteria. You're not going to want buy a machine that after a 1/2 hour of operation causes your back or legs to ache. If both dealers are reasonably close, then consider which one you're going to want to have a long term relationship with and who's service department gets higher marks.

Good luck and post pictures when you make your decision! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I just celebrated my one year anniversary with my TC40D - bought slightly used with 31 hours on it. Now in the 230's hours. Mine was out in service 6 months (and therefore "used"), so my warranty was a little shorter. If the TC45D wasn't "put in service" (ie: a "demo"), then you will have the full warranty.

All things are negotiable - I offered $20K cash + tax and got:
Quick attach plate
HD Bucket
Pallet forks
Toothbar
loaded rears
single remote
full set of service and parts manuals
full set of filters
50 hour service
Delivery

Remember: mine was used and traded back in, so the dealer obviously had some margin to work with. If the TC45D was a demo, he may not have the room.

I never considered trade-in value, cuz I think I bought at or near trade-in value /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Plus, I plan on having my grave dug with it in another 40-50 years from now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Ergonomically, I think the Boomers have pretty much everyone beat - especially the class III's on the D models. (Kubota's foot-activated steering wheel tilt mechanism is better, however.) The rabbit/turtle switch on the Boomer's loader joystick is great. Between the seat adjustment and the tilt/telescoping steering wheel, every control is well within reach.

If you are moving a lot of stuff with the FEL, get the quick attach with a set of pallet forks - I use them more than I use the bucket. From what I remember, Deere's QA and pallet forks are proprietary and more $.

Have fun shopping!

Thanks all, good info /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I did take a look at the orange one's and didn't like the feel behind the wheel.

I think my mind is made up, but on 1/17/04 I will be making my final decission, after the test drives /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My vote is for the TC-45D. I haven't owned my TC-40D long but Within 2 months I have logged just shy 100 hours on it. I couldn't be happier. I’m 6’ and mostly legs, this fits me well and we work very nicely together. Good luck shopping! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ditto what some of the others said.. buy based on the features you want, the dealer, and the money... color is last consideration.. ( blue blue blue ).. ahem..

I've got a NH 1925.. That is somewhere near a tc40.. a bit smaller though. I love it.. It works my 13 ac. fine.. but a few more hp ( tc45 ) here and there won't hurt either.. especially if you are discing or mowing wide thick material.

Good luck... with any of the 'big 3' colors you can't loose.

If the TC40D is new, I don't know that I'd pay the extra $1,100 for the TC45D with 20 hr. The 40D and 45D have the very same 3PH and FEL lift capability. The only difference with the TC45D is a few more HP to the wheels and PTO. I own a 45D, but with that difference in price I think I'd try to do some negotiation unless I was absolutely sure I had a use for the extra horsepower (maybe a hydraulic remote valve added). Either deal is good. Make sure the 45D has the darker paint on the running gear (almost black) since the earlier models were painted grey. If it's grey, it's at least a couple of years old and may lack some of the newer improvements.

As far as the JD goes, I'm really partial to NH for layout of the operator's area and the FEL joystick controls. I don't think I can give you any reason to go with the 4510.
