The article says 60 to 80K. Looks pretty cool and made in the USA!

Now if they, or someone, would just build the old tyipe truck. Single cab, 8' bed, bare bones. I haven't seen anything on any lot that hasn't been duded and pussied up beyond belief, not to mention so jacked up you need a stepladder to get into it. I'm sorta into the market for such a rig to replace my 1989 F150 Lariat (bought used for $3950 back in the early 2000's) been beat to pieces but it is still in there trucking.

We still have my dad's 78 F-150. The only option he bought was an FM radio, and that doesn't work anymore. It has 3-speed on the column, no A/C, and everything on the interior is vinyl or rubber. You could clean it with a garden hose.

I'm not familiar with a "Lariat". Is that some kind of girly option?

The vehicle still costs to much!

Course, to be fair, it is in the price range of many new trucks and SUVs. :(

For grins and giggles, which turned to frowns, I was looking at the prices of new trucks, SUVs and cars last weekend. I knew prices had gone up, and I knew what to expect, but it still is a shock to see these prices. Told the wifey that we could go buy two new trucks/SUVs and the list price was more than our old house!:shocked::shocked:

The MPG on the cars and smaller SUVs was not that much better than my 16 year truck. Too many gadgets that drive up the price and will be an expensive PTIA to replace/fix down the road.

Just hope my truck keeps on going. It does what I need, it is paid for, and I can't afford, nor do I want to pay for a new one.

Later,
Dan

It was one of the higher level trim. Not much 'girly' stuff in it, don't know if there was any of that crap back in 89.

I agree. My old 1994 Chevy 4x4 has a bench seat, rubber floor mats, radio/clock, heater and air conditioning. Every now and then I have to fix something but for what a one month payment for a new truck is, I can do years of fixing. The only thing I have to do to keep it on the road is an annual Rust Check treatment to slow the rusting down to 1 or 2 per cent of what it would be without treatment.

You want to look for what the auto companies call a work truck. They're out there.
My 2014 F150 is a 8' single cab, 4x4,not very pussied up. OK maybe just a little. A/C, automatic, and Sirius; but it averages 20 MPG which is good for a full size 4x4. While I bought it at a large dealership they did have to do a dealer trade from 70 miles away because everyone seems to want the deluxe duded up ones that run about twice the cost of mine.
Wash it out with a hose.

I wish you could get a blend of work truck and deluxe. I for sure don't want leather seats, but I would like some of the accessories that you can only get with the trim level that requires leather seats. I also would prefer to not have carpet, I'm just going to cover it up with a floor liner anyway. Would kind of be nice to get the old 4wd floor shifter also. But I also want to get some options that make it a more comfortable daily driver.
