New truck, looks pretty cool, wonder what the pricing will be?

Looks like a bar of home made soap.

Modern cars all look like they were every so slightly carved from a Dove soap bar. I can't tell the difference between brands anymore. They all look the same. I know it if because they have to meet the same MPG requirements so they have to follow the same shape an thus look very similar.

I've been scanning the vehicle ad section in the papers occasionally. Hven't seen what I would call a 'work' truck in a couple years. Haven't seen a standard cab in near forever. ...

I suspect one would have to special order a work truck today. I think Chevy used to call them W/T?

One of the places I work has a Ford F250 with "manual" windows, plastic floor, "manual" locks, etc. It is a crew cab with a gas engine. Not too bad of a truck either. Air conditioner will turn the cab into a freezer!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

But I think to get that truck one would have to go to the fleet manager at the dealership and order one. The dealers want to sell the truck with all of the gadgets to boost the price.

My guess is that trucks are so danged expensive these days because of the business tax write offs on heavy trucks and SUVs. :confused3:

This has been bugging me since the start of the thread. One can call a rose a carrot but that does not make it a carrot. This thing is NOT A TRUCK. A truck is something you use to haul things. That Compact SUV wouldn't hall much more that a full size car with a decent trunk.

Yup, the fleet department is who handles trucks like this. I just went through this exercise. :banghead: I did a 200 mile radius search using KBB.com to find an F-250 gas powered crew cab XL trim (not XLT, King Ranch, etc.). There were just a handful of them on any dealer lots. And it was going to be $40k. With the end of year incentives, I could get an XLT for only a couple thousand more. I couldn't justify that much money right now (could afford it, just couldn't justify it!) so what did I do.....

I stumbled across a 2008 F-250 Super Cab XL with 79,600 miles on the clock. Super clean truck that was owned by a small city around here. I called their maintenance department and talked to their mechanic about it. He gave it a big thumbs up! The only reason they got rid of it is that the city has a "trade in all vehicles at 10 years old" policy. The cost - while still more than I wanted to pay for a 10 year old vehicle - was much easier to justify to make sure that I really wanted a full sized truck again. I hadn't driven a full-size truck since the mid-80's when I had a '74 F-100. I've owned 2 Rangers since that time, but hadn't driven those on a daily basis in 10 years.
