Sorry to hear that. Just a heads up on what's going on in this area. Started seeing this last year. They break in stores and the next night or next week break in the same store again. Same with banks. In Lynchburg the same bank was robbed 3 times by the same guy in a couple of weeks. He was caught the third time.
So far the only machinery I know of stolen was a dozer and a 3020 JD tractor being used in a logging operation. Both were left in the woods and over a weekend they both were hauled out.
It's only going to get worse now with high fuel prices and plants closing down weekly around here.
Not many of that brand of balers around here. If I see any new ones pop up I'll let you know. Closest dealer we have for Vermeer is about 70 miles. So a new Rebel would stick out like a sore thumb.
BTW: Did they get the PTO shaft too? Just wondering. And if they didn't you may contact all the dealers around and see if anyone comes wanting a new shaft. Don't give up on finding it either. Phillips Equipment just out of Lynchburg keeps records on every tractor that's ever been through their lot. They had one that a guy wasn't making the payments on and he took off. That tractor showed up 9 years later because of a break down. They also check the numbers on every tractor in for repair or trade. The guy that had the tractor in for repair had no idea it was stolen. He bought it off a farm just before the thief took off and paid cash.
